Blocs 2.4 and High Sierra

#1

Folks I’m going to start getting Blocs ready for High Sierra in the coming weeks. What is the current situation with the latest MacOS betas and Blocs?

Is Blocs running ok for you on MacOS High Sierra?

#2

When I click on an item the side panel stays like it was. Not blank.
Meaning the side panel shows the settings for the bloc.
When you click on the paragraph the side panel doesn’t show the settings for the paragraph (fonts, classes etc.).

#3

Ok thanks, is that the most recent build release of the OS?

#4

Yes Sir.
Public BETA 4.
As far as I know identically with the latest developer BETA.

#5

Cool, ill install the OS on some machines and get to work on seeing what else is broken :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

#6

BTW was there a stage when Blocs worked correctly with the beta of High Sierra?

#7

I’m sorry Norm, it’s to long ago. I can’t remember.

#8

No worries, if you start the app and select a Bloc do the sidebar controls work at all? Can you change s Blocs padding?

#9

Yes. Change the blocs padding works.
I also can click an image, see the settings and can change them.
When I click on a paragraph I can select it and it is highlighted. But the sidebar stays on the setting for the image.
Strange.

#10

@Norm:
Developer BETA 5 is out.

#11

Yes Im going to do a fresh install tonight! Hopefully should have a fix within the coming weeks. BTW did you update your file system?

#12

Changing the file system to APFS on a HD is highly NOT recommended.
I did that and it makes the system nearly unusable. I had to go back to HFS+
It may be different on a SSD.

#13

It’s a brand new MBP so I think it’ll be fine. I wouldn’t dare upgrade my workhorses (iMac late 2012) file system, I know it would just melt.

#14

Good luck :sunglasses:

Take a look here:

#15

Just installed MacOS High Sierra beta 5 and Blocs works just fine…

#16

I still have this issue:
When I click on an item the side panel stays like it was. Not blank.
Meaning the side panel shows the settings for the bloc.
When you click on the paragraph the side panel doesn’t change.

#17

Do you have the latest MacOS public beta? Also have you tried 2.4.1?

#18

Yep.
Latest public BETA yesterday installed.
Using Blocs 2.4.1.
I’m not on High Sierra at the moment. I will try again later today and send you a test file.

#19

Great thank you,

I knew this would happen, it works for me but doesn’t for you. It’s a nightmare to fix

I’ve read different opinions about using APFS on a traditional HD. Some have had problems and others not, but it’s worth remembering this is still in beta and Apple may yet make some tweaks over the next few weeks. At the very least, Apple will presumably engineer this, so there is no problem fetching data between the two file systems. If not, that’s a real problem.
