Blocs 3.1 Beta Build 3

#1

Here is Blocs 3.1 beta build 3. This build is pretty light on additions and addresses a few outstanding issues, however it does add a new Bloc bar UX.

So the Bloc bar now fills the canvas when you are adding the very first Bloc to an empty project, it just makes more sense as the rest of the canvas is empty. Anyway I didn’t stop there, I figure those on small laptop screens may want to be able to open the Bloc bar full screen by default, so I added that as an option too. You can set the Bloc bar to full screen in the main apps prefs or via the actual Bloc Bar row drop down menu.

Have fun.

Download Blocs 3.1 Beta Build 3.

Did someone already mention that we love you?

Clean url links are all correct now I believe.

Given that the folder names are derived the page names I wondered if some means could be found to generate sub folders for categories, allowing us to create a structure like example.com/services/painting/exteriors

@Norm if I select full screen for the bloc bar, then try reverting to say three rows it comes up blank. Very strangely it then becomes tricky to make go away or even click other windows. It was a struggle just to bring up Safari.

#5

What version of MacOS?

#6

I’m on High Sierra. 10.13.6. I actually lose the option to alter the number of rows again and have to restart Blocs. It then returns to the old setting.

#7

Cool I found the issue already, I never tried switching between popover to fill screen then back to popover without selecting a bloc, thats how you replicate this issue.

I’ll be fix in b4.

#8

This is good news!

#9

You thought it was fool proof I bet, but I was here to prove you wrong

#10

@Flashman what did you use to check the Clean URL links?
Is that software or a website?

#11

I have a brilliant app for this sort of thing called Scrutiny. https://peacockmedia.software/mac/scrutiny/

This is what I want too. Would be nice so you can organise the URL structure somehow. Currently I have a list of around 20 products under the same range and would be nice to have it so that each product is in under that one folder.

Folder Export Currently:

earth-europe-england-london > index.html
earth-europe-england-edinburgh > index.html
earth-europe-england-bristol > index.html

Folder Export After?:

earth > europe > england > london.html
earth > europe > england > edinburgh.html
earth > europe > england > bristol.html

URL Structure

https://www.example.co.uk/earth/europe/england/london
https://www.example.co.uk/earth/europe/england/edinburgh
https://www.example.co.uk/earth/europe/england/bristol

Rather than

https://www.example.co.uk/earth-europe-england-london
https://www.example.co.uk/earth-europe-england-edinburgh
https://www.example.co.uk/earth-europe-england-bristol

Hey @Norm, any hints on when then the custom bric sidebar issue will make it in. I’m a little desperate for that one.

#14

The cropping issue?

#15

Hi @Norm
thanks for that update. Do you fixed the problems with the withe space / lines between blocs seen on a windows explorer … ?
thanks
tom

Now I know why clean urls are no longer giving error messages. It isn’t exporting clean urls in folders. Yes I did tick the export option.

#17

Huh! The clean url export isn’t working when enabled??

#18

Correct. I was pretty surprised as well and only realised after updating a site over night.

#19

Are you in preview mode when you exported?

Try opening from a fresh startup and see if it exports correctly. Don’t use preview mode prior to export.

#20

Just tested. If you export in edit mode it is correct and you have clean urls. Export from preview and it’s broken.
