Bulk Add of Hosted Assets Still Not Working

ForkLift gives me this and Blocs doesn’t eat that.

I make this out of it:
https://www.wijnwebsite.nl/fotosred/capriolometkleine.jpg
And if it works with one then the link will be correct, right? It just doesn’t work with multiple.
I also tried it with davesognj’s ducks just like in the video with the same result.

A (minor) new data point: I have discovered that it is not necessary to quit and restart Blocs to get rid of the circling arrows. All I have to do is toggle the view in the Asset Manager window between List and Icon view.

I discovered this because I realized that there was one difference between your video and what I was doing: I was using list view while you were in icon view. But it makes no difference on my machine; adding in bulk fails in either case.

I wonder if this problem is somehow related to text encoding. I’m using UTF-8 which I thought was the standard these days.

Dave

Forklift doesn’t give you links like that if you are set up properly. Have you set the set the base url in the bookmark settings?

You are also linking to an https asset in your second link, even though the website doesn’t seem to have an SSL certificate installed.

I think we’ve proven in this conversation that the source of the links is not the issue. There might be FTP apps that do a better job of making the links we need, but some of us (at least 2) are in the situation where Blocs will only process one at a time.

I’ve tried changing the text encoding to Mac OS Roman but that made no difference (which is no big surprise because UTF-8 and Mac OS Roman are identical for the range of characters in my urls).

The ?-help on the Bulk Add dialog says that the URL field should be “A collection of URLs in plain text format.” So, where they came from ought not to be relevant as long as they’re indeed acceptable links. And the fact that they work when added one at a time says they are (or should be) acceptable.

Dave

Both of you have had issues through adding incorrect url structures and urls not reflecting the true SSL status. Text encoding should not be an issue here. You might encounter problems if you have links with foreign language characters such as the e in caffè or o in però.

BUT they work for you. So what are you doing that we’re not?

I just copy paste correctly formatted links from Forklift after setting the file path and work normally.

Try adding these links as bulk assets.

mijnwebsite.nl is Dutch for mywebsite.nl and is just an example. Thank you for pointing that out regarding Forklift. I’m going to check that out, thank you very much. But aside from that. If I can add a Hosted Asset that I can then use in Blocs, there is nothing wrong with my link, is there? I use the same kind of links in Coffee Cup’s Email Designer and they send and arrive just fine. But I’m going to take a look tomorrow at how I have ForkLift set up which I can probably improve. Thank you.

Yes there is a problem with your link. You are linking https when you have no SSL certificate installed.

I’m following with interest and tried my luck as well. Unfortunately, I’m unlucky.
When I copy/paste @Flashman’s links into Blocs I’m not able to add them. However, when clicking “remove unused assets” one of the images did load

mywebsite.com is not my website. It is not a website at all. It is an example.

Tried but did not succeed.

If I go to the website without the https there is no image. I cannot test files that do not exist.

@Jerry Does it work for you with the links to my server?

Flashman,

You didn’t ask me but I tried anyway and no, I could not bulk add those links. Same problem as always (for two years now).

Dave

Have you ever filed a bug report?

Hi @Flashman. Nope, no luck.

By chance are you embedding assets?

I also tried with your links but did not succeed either.
