Hello: I spent hours yesterday trying to adjust a hero on home page, and that’s before checking tablet and mobile where everything is uncentered and cut off.
In order of problems: Global swatches don’t work. When I type in a hex code for “a gray white shade, in labels it pink. When I go to delete something in the layer tree, it shows it locked. Selecting structures- that screen is hard to read and distinguish the differences between hero blocs for eg. That’s just a few of the problems I’ve encountered.
I am new to Blocs 6 having created a few sites years ago with Blocs 2+ and then updating, editing those by hand. Asking AI for help and it brings in description of icons and settings that don’t pertain to Blocs 6. I’ve watched several videos, but some of them move so quickly it is hard to see what exactly was done. Is there a visual map with brief name or explanation of where things are and what they do?
I may just give up and transfer my old Blocs 2 site to a simple site like Jimdo, as my current site has declined in visibility to 18% and has almost no traffic except what comes from FB.
Is signing up for Eldar’s Master Class, by best option since AI tells me to look for a square with a mountain in it or something that looks like it has 9 tiny boxes, and after a 10 minute search, I tell it NOPE, and then apologies because blocs 6 has moved things around. So I guess I just need a clearer visual outline. I’m working on a late 2015 Imac with last possible update to Monterey 12.7.6 and was convinced all the glitches and weird things happening was due to that ancient OS, but AI says no, Blocs 6 is ok for that. I do have a 2024 macbook laptop but web site desing on a 13 inch is too challenging for me.
Do I just give up–got to a drop and ignore site like Jimdo, or try Eldar’s master class? Using templates is not particularly helpful for me as my sites have a difference focus. Sorry for this long complaint, but spending 3 hours on a hero and not even having it work on other break points is frustrating.
Moving from Blocs 2 to 6 is a big jump. I’ll try and help.
Is the colour correct, but the label wrong? Blocs tries to detect colour names based on a database of hex codes, obviously all colours are not covered, so you may see the wrong name being applied in this specific scenario.
You can just adapt the colour name manually in the Colour Manager. Be sure to open the right sidebar inspector in the Colour Manager.
Locked layers prevent you breaking the layout, a little more info here.
As you mentioned that you are working with a hero Bloc, I’m wondering if you have added your content in either the top or bottom Extra Rows (these can be disabled, if you select the Bloc and look in the Inspector.
Also when prompting AI, point it to the Blocs knowledge base, its not 100% up to date (as development moves fast), but it will likely help with more accurate instructions.
Thank you for the quick response. The color hex code was correct for a cool gray white but it labeled it pink. Minor issue compared to the other problems I encountered. I think I need to delete the project and start over as AI suggested so many classes to fix spacing and white spaces showing up in nav and footer that it just made things worse. But I will give it another shot. Thanks again for responding.
If you’re undecided about signing up for my courses, I highly recommend checking out the free Blocs 4 Website Course. I understand the interface might be a bit different, but trust me, you’ll gain a wealth of knowledge (even applicable to Blocs 6) and likely resolve 99% of your queries.
Thank you. I’ll look there. I wanted to ask since I downloaded updates now 6.4.7 will your course cover the basics even if things have moved around? Happy to sign up, but want to make sure I don’t run into “things” not being where AI tells me they are. Thanks.
