For a long time the pictures I click in the asset manager may actually go where they are supposed to, but most of the time not.
Example: If I click a picture frame bric on the canvas and then click a picture in the Asset manager it might just go a head and make a design decision to add it to the background of the block; then I hit command Z and it does not undo the program mistake but instead decides to undo other things on the page I already did. So what do I need to do you might ask; well I close the project and have to start over from the last time I saved the project. This takes me back to the earlier days of computing when you had to save your document every time you blinked or risk loosing your work. Just a little nostalgia for ya.
