How to place a bg image in a column?

HI All,

I’m trying to create a background image, like the following. Whenever I try to apply a class to a column or a div, and add a background image via the class, it ignores my request and fills up the entire Bloc with the background image. Any idea how I can make something like this? (see how there is white space around the background and a slight drop shadow with curved edges and a pattern in the background?)

Drag the image form the Asset manager to the image well in the class editor, otherwise it thinks you want to apply the image to the Bloc.
