Volt - login problem

Hello, I’ve just purchased Volt and verified all elements are installed. I want to provide a client with a demo site so made a simple site and upload to a sub-domain (I saw a video by Eldar saying this was possible). I am unable to log in though. Tried fresh installs and cannot identify the problem. Please can someone take a look?
Sub-domain fd2.fitzdesign.info

The moment I open the page, before even trying to login a message says Authentication failed. I think you may need to take this up with @Jannis

Thank you. I did wonder why that displayed straight away… I know sub-domain location adds complexity but perhaps something else is wrong with install or config… @jannis hope you can help. Please let me know if you need more info…

I’ve just looked again at that URL. It’s not a subdomain. That’s just a sub folder, so Volt would not work there. It needs to be in the root of the domain or sub domain. A sub domain needs to be created in the server control panel.

Even if I go to fd2.fitzdesign.info/dashboard it redirects to https://fitzdesign.info/FD2/dashboard/ with the same error message.

Right… thanks.I’ve got to go off-line but will be back later…

Also, check which php version your host is on

You are using a subfolder, which isn’t supported.

Please use a subdomain for testing, as @Flashman already said:

Thanks @TrevReav
I’m using PHP 8.2
Jannis, When I paste (dashboard) the url switches to the alias dashboard
I’ve recorded the issue which starts with the sub-domain as created on my FastHosts panel
Subdomains - Fasthosts Control Panel - 1 October 2024 | Loom

You have there a 301 redirect in place.

I think that was something setup with Fasthost support team but I’d have to look back to remind myself.
So should I try removing that and test again?

Yes, this must be for example in your htaccess config.

Ok thanks for setting me on right track. I’ll do some digging.

Thanks for help. I have resolved this by creating the testing site under its own hosting package (instead of the sub-folder approach) . Volt is up and running and I’m already very impressed with it.
