What do you love to do?

Hi all,

From the recent posts today chatting about music on the forum - and I remember how interested I was when we had a post a long time ago asking where everyone on the forum was based…so I intreated to see who would like to share more on ourselves!

It would be nice to find out a little about people on here of hobbies and interests and maybe could find someone with the same passions. Of course, move on if this is not of interest, as some people live private lives and I get that.

So here is my little list to start the ball rolling!!!

  • Based in the UK in the West Midlands
  • I am a huge fan of Aston Villa as @Eldar very well knows!. I had a season ticket for 24 years with my Dad (who has sadly passed away now) and I only missed 1 or maybe 2 home games in all that time. My boys are both villa fans now and we do go to the odd game when we can get a ticket !!
  • We are a huge golfing family - (I have an injured wrist at the moment!) I try to play 2-3 times a week and my boys too, weather depending. I play off single figure and my eldest son is playing out of this world at the moment, some tweaks and more coaching, I would hope he would have a career in it or music.
  • As well as running a small web business, I run a now scaled down event business owning sound and lighting and tech and working on large high profiled events to small parties. I have also worked as a corporate and high end wedding DJ for over 33 years. I have DJed on TV shows for SKY TV “Battle of the brides” and also toured and worked with Sir Elton John, JLS, Kaiser Chiefs and many more.
  • I love to game too, have a huge love for anything Nintendo!!! Would rather be Link that Solid Snake any day!
  • I also run a small website business building mainly streaming websites for live events and conferences etc and now pushing hard into small business websites - clients have included: Vodaphone, BMW, Mini, Lego, Ronald McDonald House, Law Society, HSBC and many more…and all using Blocs.

Would love to find out a little about others here and hope we all would!
I know @Eldar has a huge passion for football! - @Norm loves Nintendo too! - @WeatherguyNH loves the weather! what could you say about your passions - feel free to chip in!

Righty ho @AdieJAM here goes!

Born in Whitey Bay (North East of England) only about 2-3 miles away from where @Norm is based, so know his area well. Now living in Surrey for the past 40 years.
Newcastle United supporter (sorry).

Graphic designer for 30 odd years, trained as an illustrator in the traditional way, but covid put an end to that when 3 companies I worked for went under, and another 3 clients died - came out of that with one single client, an estate agent, who’d had a torrid time during lockdown, so they started doing everything in-house to save money…

…At which point (in the middle of me moping around and contemplating my belly button fluff) my daughter said “get your paintbrushes out again and see what happens”.
BEST…THING…EVER!
Started doing animal portraits, mainly dogs and absolutely love it. Having wet paint and paintbrushes in my hand is such a lovely feeling.

I’m a bass player in a local 3-piece covers band (Pete & 2 Veg), do a lot of gigs for charity and probably about 8-10 pub ones throughout the year, which suits the 3 of us fine. As a sideline - and having bought a lovely spangly new digital mixer - I have the option to record the different tracks of voices and instruments from our rehearsals or live performances and mix them, which I’m getting more and more into. Might start offering this service to some local young bands who might need demo tapes. I’m not good enough for finished commercial mixes, so demo’s are as far as I can go, but I’m happy with that.

Still keeping my hand in with legacy websites and picking up the odd ‘starter’ company ones, which I also enjoy.

So as a synopsis, semi-retired, ex graphic designer, now bass playing music mixing animal portrait artist who’s going slightly deaf.

I feel I should be showing a banana for the scale of my dullness!

Brilliant !!! Great post!! (forgot to put my location! just updated mine)

Lots of love for music again! which I love.
What Mixer did you buy? I invested in Midas M32 desks, but been using on conferences recently the Yamaha DM3 desks which are lovely. Not an expert on digital desks, but can make a sound come out!

The toon army are catching up the villa…or should we say we are dropping down to you! I am worried for the Villa at the moment…but not as worried as Eldar is for Man City !!!..lol

I have seen your work on your website and it’s brilliant - must be so relaxing and great to get into that zone. I would love to try one day, but I try to relax when reading a book and my head has a million things running through it and I can not keep still!!!
I only relax at Christmas or Sundays as I know the rest of the world are relaxing so its ok for me too!

It’s a QSC TouchMix 8 (only need the small one as we’re a 3-piece and the drummer uses electric drums, so only 1 input for them).

After last nights performance i think we should be the worried ones!

Man City will be ok @Eldar, don’t you worry!

Thanks for the lovely words @AdieJAM, just starting a Bearnese/Collie cross now! Good eyes to get stuck into.

Haha !! yeah they were live stream websites for smaller regions and also their main UK ones, and 2 were websites for their open days and mini was for when people purchased the cars they had a Q&A which went direct to departments if they had certain issues.

Awesome, Thanks.

The interviews, and production on the program is so so good and compliments his outstanding career. Only Disney could have delivered it like this. Even the trailer gives me goosebumps when I hear the soundtrack to our lives.
