Designing for Breakpoints and mobile devices

many modern mobile devices now have so much resolution that they use the largest breakpoint layout.

That’s not quite right. There is a difference between screen resolution and device width. We had a thread going on early today about it.

XS Breakpoint

Since Blocs uses the Bootstrap framework, the breakpoints are just the Bootstrap standards. The smaller breakpoints are still valid for phones. Don’t get lost in the pixels, because take for example the iPhone 6, which has a 1334-by-750-pixel resolution, but it is equivalent to 375px device-width size. iPhone x has a resolution of 1125 x 2436 pixels, but the device width is 375px. Actually what I looking for is some way to detect if the device is mobile or not and not just “how wide is the screen”?

I guess there must be something like this being done with javascript ???

Although you can do this (I have a couple of sites that check iOS, Android, iPad and displays data based on device, but the sites are CMS driven) the breakpoints already work really well across devices.
