Try disabling malware bytes and run it again, this may be preventing Blocs doing initial setup.
Also check permissions for Blocs in prefs make sure it has not been restricted.
where I check the permissions ?
Try privacy security > files and folders - make sure Blocs has access
I disable Maleware Bytes - donwload Blocs again and install it again. Same problem …
Or you think I have to restart ? Or delete Malware Bytes
You will need to make sure malware is off.
The Blocs 5 folder doesn’t exit.
Launch Blocs
I disable Maleware Bytes, rename the Blocs 5 folder and start Blocs … Same Problem
Blocs 5/ site-templates-core folder should have templates in if setup is successful.
Also check Brics folder that should contain a few sun folders
this folder is also empty …
I think I delete Blocs and try to install complete new …
And all the stuff I use
I would also restart your Mac. This version has been tested for months so this not a common issue, there is a good chance something in your setup is conflicting with Blocs.
Also always make sure the Blocs 5 folder doesn’t exist on every startup attempt.
ok, I try to restart and try tomorrow to install new … thanks for your help
I’ll check back in then and debug further. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I think I have found the cause of the failed site template re-installations. The system prefs stored in your Macs user defaults (once Blocs has been launched previously), will prevent templates being re-installed.
This means you will need to use a clean uninstall tool that will remove system prefs for Blocs too. You should find it then sets up correctly on launch.
I’ll have a new beta out on Friday with a fallback to prevent this in future. Again apologies for the inconvenience.
EDIT: I’ve got that sorted and ready for Fridays beta. I still have not found why you encountered the original issue may be due to a limitation with additional protection apps. But the steps to re-install y deleting the Blocs 5 folder will work as expected in the V5.1.1 beta.
Ok. Do you mean for example App cleaner …
But I have to install all Brics and font etc again ?
Yeah app cleaner is good. Yes I’m afraid if you don’t have Time Machine you will need to re-install 3rd party brics
My new Mac is running a few weeks now and every day I want to buy an external device for Time Machine …
but now I will buy one
BTW - do you have a solution for this problem ?
Good reminder to always have backups of everything! Especially critical work.
I think we have all learnt that one the hard way.
Yes - my last backup device (LaCie) not work fine anymore - so I don’t won’t to use it. But I order a new one at this moment ![]()
