Until now, I have not touched Export Location in Project Settings:
I’ve always left that blank. When I want to Export, I click on File > Export > Quick Export…
It then asks me to select the location, and because the name of my folder is not the same as my Blocs document name, I always must manually edit the destination folder name in the SaveAs field…
My folder is named “KIRAMEK website” while my document name is “KIRAMEK website v10.6 (Blocs6)”. So I must manually delete “v10.6 (Blocs6)” in the Save As field and then do the Export. That dumps all the Exported files into my “KIRAMEK website” folder, which is what I want.
I thought that entering an Export Location in Project Settings might save me time, but it doesn’t. You see, if I choose my destination folder named “KIRAMEK website” and then do a Quick Export, Blocs will create an entire NEW FOLDER inside my “KIRAMEK website” folder named “KIRAMEK website v10.6 (Blocs6)”, and Blocs will put all the HTML content into that new folder. That’s not what I want.
I want to have Blocs export all its files into a folder I specify, which is not named the same as the Blocs document. I don’t want a new folder created. I already have a folder created, with a name I have chosen, which is not my Blocs document name. And I want all exported files to be dumped into that folder.
Of course, I can achieve that by Exporting as I always have, and editing the name manually each time. But it would be great if I could set an Export folder in Project Settings and force Blocs to dump files into that folder without creating a new folder. In other words, I’d like to stop Blocs from creating a folder named exactly like the document name.
Why do I want this?
Because I create different versions of my documents at times, and I put that version number in the Blocs document filename. But I want to continue using the same destination folder for export. I don’t want multiple destination folders filled to the brim with HTML files, graphics etc. It’s a waste of hard drive space and generates unnecessary clutter. If I want to export from and old version document, I can always do that. There’s no need to have a separate Export folder just for export from that old Blocs document.
So I am thinking it would be great if “Export Location” in Project Settings could be altered in a way that would function as I’ve described above.
