Animations have never functioned for me

Current Mac OS, current Blocs app.

I have an odd one for you. I’ve never been able to get the animations to work with Blocs ie “zoom” and “slide in”, that stuff. It’s never mattered before, because those animations don’t interest me. BUT… I have a new client who does want that, and I’ll lose him if I can’t provide it.

I’m doing the obvious things, but elements remain static on the page. I even brought in a site template that has some animations on it, at least on the demo site, and they’re dead as a doornail.

Hopefully, I’m overlooking something.

Any chance you could share a url with a project you have added animations too?

One thing to consider is animations can be disabled at the browser/OS level.

sample was derived from Creativity - Blocs Templates

The second URL animates smoothly, just what I want.

Tested Safari and Chrome with same results.

If it helps, both those sites animate for me on iPad. Hve you tried on a different browser, or a different machine?

MacPro desktop with Safari and Chrome, same results.

What you say is encouraging, but obviously I need to be able to see that on my own system. Not one single form of Blocs animation is working for me. There must be something fundamental I’m missing.

Thank-you for taking some time with this.

This is what I am seeing on Safari. It might be worth checking your browser extensions and clearing the cache.

I’ll do that, Flash, but I can’t see the animations in Blocs preview either.

Dare I say it, have you tried restarting the Mac. Also is this a new Mac Pro or an older one running OpenCore?

MacPro is three years old, so it’s not the black canister, but it’s not the newest one either, and I’ve had this problem with seeing Blocs animation as long as I’ve used Blocs. I see it in external sites that were built with Blocs, sample sites in the Blocs store. On my own system, I’ve tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox.

Thx for the screen recording.

Can you check this on another device like an iPhone? I know that doesn’t excuse the issues in Blocs, but at least it would give you feedback while trying to figure this out.

Does it only pertain to Blocs or all websites you visit, is reduced motion enabled on your system?

System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Reduce motion

A thought.
Although everything SEEMS to be animating fine when I view in newest Safari, if you’re expecting anything to move in your ‘hero’ header bloc then it may not because it’s too close to the top of the screen. It’s caught me out before.

Winner!

Would have never thought of that on my own.

Owe you a cold one, user.

Will remember that, thx.

This was solved below.
“reduce motion” was active in my accessibility settings, must have been the default, so this might be a common problem

The default setting is actually “off”, glad that it sorted the issue for you.

That’s what I was referring to with this, I just couldn’t remember the proper name for the option.

Thx, I was on my way to go find an Apple forum. I knew it was going to be something obscure that I never look at.
