I’ve built a responsive “partner” section with two rows of logo tiles (3 on top, 2 below). Each logo opens a modal popup with more info.
But I’m struggling with two persistent layout issues:
1. Background color won’t stay transparent
Even though all rows, columns and containers are set to no color / transparent, the background still shows as light grey in both desktop and mobile browsers.
In the Blocs editor canvas everything looks transparent, but in preview and browser it doesn’t.
2. Excessive spacing between rows
There’s a huge vertical gap between the first and second row of logo tiles.
I tried setting margins and padding (top/bottom) of rows and columns to zero or 1px, but the distance won’t change.
What I’ve tried:
Used custom classes like .partner-box, set explicit sizes
Set background to “no color” for Bloc, Container, Row and Column
Reset all padding/margins
Attached custom CSS files to force overrides
Tested all breakpoints – mobile looks especially broken
Removed all rows step by step to isolate the problem
Any ideas what’s causing this?
Is this a bug in Blocs layout rendering, or am I missing a setting somewhere?
Thanks for your response, Norm.
Here’s a screenshot of the “Partners” section. The issue is that even though all rows and containers have transparent backgrounds assigned (and verified in the class manager and CSS), the preview and browser output still show a light gray background between the rows.
Also, the vertical spacing between the first and second row seems too large and doesn’t respond to any margin or padding adjustments, even with custom classes and !important declarations.
I would really appreciate any advice on how to fix these layout issues.
I am still confused! sorry, don’t take me much these days !..LOL
But my answers might not help - but there are many many ways of doing things and here is my way:
I have just done a series of small cards (see below )that have logo and text on it and I just added a class to each one and adjust the padding in there and set the column size. If I adjust the padding they all change, so have total control over it and I adjust through breakpoints.
Sounds like you have done something else to make this happen? do you have other classes? or adding padding or margin between rows or somewhere else.
Best thing check everything again
Never had that happen? so you want no colour at all, not even white?..will this be as you have something behind it that is not being shown?
Do you have a live link or if you want, please send me this page or save it as a bloc and show me on a PM and ill take a look at it.
I have just created this for a website im working on:
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and offer your help – I truly appreciate it!
I was able to partly resolve the issue, but I must say that Blocs has become increasingly problematic, especially if you’re not using Blocs Plus.
I’m currently on version 5.2.9, and unfortunately, it’s plagued by issues and limitations that appear to be deliberately introduced to push users toward upgrading.
In its current state, this version is no longer professionally usable. Many of the restrictions seem intentionally designed to pressure users into the paid tier – which is frustrating and, honestly, counterproductive.
What surprises me most is the kind of decisions some software companies make, which end up alienating and frustrating their users rather than building trust. There’s often a lack of sensitivity in how these things are handled. We’re seeing this more and more across the software industry, and in such cases, we don’t hesitate to explore alternative solutions.
Thanks again for your support – it really means a lot!
In what way? - what you are trying to do is nothing to do with Blocs Plus ? - if you are wanting to create this in Wordpress then yes you will need the next tier - but Blocs standard should have no impact in what you are looking at doing?
Post some links of the live site and I will try to help ? the rows / columns once you do it a few times you will do this with your eyes closed ! (maybe one open!..LOL)
Hey, what exactly are you having problems with in Blocs 5? I’d like to try an help.
If you are referring to our Blocs Plus features, yes these are limited in Blocs standard in order to let customers try them.
It’s been this way since we introduced Blocs Plus.
We also don’t have any notifications or pushes in previous versions of Blocs which encourage users to move up to the next major version. Blocs is fairly unique here, as a lot of software show regular pop-ups in older software versions.
