Check Cookies on a Website

Hi,

anyone know a good tool to check all the cookies on a website and a description of the cookie ?

tom

I can’t recommend any in particular but if you Google “cookie audit online” lots turn up.

You check the value of cookies in the Chrome Dev Tools. (Safari too)
command + option + i

“Applications” tab, then see “Cookies” in the left sidebar. (this example is the Google Search landing page)

See the “Value” column for the data that stored there.

edit: There are also website that will report all this info to you about your cookies. do a search. most GDPR sevices will have a tool you can use free. They also categorize the cookies which is nice for folks that don’t know what each cookie might be for.

Is this the same when I click on Safari - Settings - Cookies ?
There I see a few cookies and also tracking tools ? Google analytics â€Ļ But when I use your way I don’t see the analytic tools â€Ļ
Is this different ? Cookies and Analytic tools ?!

thanks for your help

Update: I see cookies called _ga â€Ļ I think this is analytics â€Ļ

Yes, that’s the first party cookie that stores the “client id”. (not to be confused with “user id”. separate feature, can be used together.)
