Confetti bric to snow

Does any one know if it is possible to convert the confetti bric into snow shapes, or if there is any other way to do this? In RW there were a few stacks that would enable me to have snow fall on the page.

@helen Thanks for that - looks good but it prevents my modal which is on the page from openening.

Yes, I’m going to take a look at the snow Bric soon and see if I can update that and add a few new fetaures.

Hey @pixelarte I just pushed an update to the Snow Bric so it no longer breaks the on-page-load custom interaction, which I assume you are using to show your modal.

You should find you can now use the snow Bric without it preventing your modal automatically opening.

Here’s how to update it, or just redownload the latest version (1.0.1) here.

Hi @Norm

Just added this bric to a clients website for Christmas and on testing my son noticed on his iPhone that the website was stuttering and glitchy. I made some changes to the snow flake count but made no difference.

I have checked your test page from the store and this does the same. I only find this glitch on mobile and not on my Mac - but not tested tablets, so might be worth checking that.

We have tested on iPhone 15 Plus and 15 are both glitching - the snow does not keep falling on scroll and looks like it’s trying to reload the snow drop when scrolling and makes the page stutter.

Cheers Norm

@Norm Thanks for that. It works perfectly now on both desktop and mobile.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work quite as it should on Tahoe and IOS 26.1.
I recommend to follow this discussion on this thread:

Can you share your website as I can’t get mobile smooth - but I might just disable it on mobile.

Cheers @pixelarte

Hi @AdieJAM here is the web page using the snow bric. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for sending - great site !

Just editing my orginal post:

The snow does stutter a little at the start and then I do get it when nothing loads on the home page, and then the text appears and it loads a few seconds delay.

I have attached an image - @Norm not sure if its the snow causing this as the other pages seem fine.

Again though - GREAT site !

Hi @pixelarte, very nice and no lag or stuttering at my end, but did you know you had an extra ā€˜admin’ showing in the footer of the home page?

@TrevReav Yes thanks I was aware of the extra ā€œadminā€ though it’s a not a link and I need to remove it.

@AdieJAM Yes I’m getting that same nothing load (on mobile only) and then it reappearing . I think it is the snow bric that is causing it. I’ll see if it does it if I remove it.
Thanks for your kind comments.

@Norm @Helen There still seems to be some issues with the Let it Snow bric on mobile. If you view this page https://adultballetsheffield.co.uk on a mobile you should see the problem mentioned by @AdieJAM and myself elsewhere in the thread. If I remove the bric from the page it works fine - it also works fine on desktop. I also tried tried the Snowflake bric and it works fine with that as well.

Just looked at it on my mobile and it’s all fine. The page fully loaded, I was able to dismiss the popup and scroll down the page.
Safari on iPhone 16

@pixelarte

Looked at your site on Silicon iPad Pro 12.9 — your site loads but the overlay takes a while to dismiss and then content is cut off / missing when scrolling before it eventually shows. With orientation change the site becomes unresponsive for a duration (10-20 seconds) then finally changes orientation, content can also disappear then. Same with opening the Bookmarks bar it yields the same result of unresponsiveness, due to resize.

Unfortunately, the logic of the library chosen that this Bric uses is not very good (discussed in another thread). So unless this Bric gets updated using a different and better approach, I would suggest not using it until then, as your visitors could potentially have a bad user experience reflecting poorly upon your site.

You may also wish to try and better optimize the christmas-celebration.jpg it’s 1.7MB which seems excessive, could probably be below 300KB using ImageOptim, etc., with no perceived quality loss.

@Blocs_User Thanks for tip. I have reduced the jpg to 219 kb and changed the bric to the snow4blocs (https://blocs.store/seller/tools4blocs/) and everything now seems to work fine. Thanks again.

Sorry folks,
I may be old and my eyes aren’t in best shape, but this looks like confetti and not like snow - with all due respect.

It will do until @norm fixes the snow bric issue.
