Considering iPad version

Quick question,

I am considering purchasing the iPad version, but can I copy all my add-ons to the iPad version, or am I missing something?

Yeah, Blocs for iPad also has an Extension Manager. The only major difference is Blocs for iPad currently requires custom Brics to be manually updated.

Thanks Norm, I’m not a simple man but how do I get the addons from Mac to iPad?

No worries, you have a few options with Apples eco-system, you can use iCloud to copy your files from your Mac to iPad, you can also use AirDrop to transfer files from your Mac to your iPad, these typically will be placed in the Files app on your iPad.

I hope that helps.

Hi Norm – Looking into adding the iPad version (I have the Mac version), and I experimented with a file transfer of an existing site built on the Mac, from Mac to iPad via Airdrop, the files did arrive in my FILES folder on the iPad, but I don’t know how to open it in the iPad Blocs app? I’m not finding an import or file selection option in the free version of the iPad app. Please advise…thanks! (Note: ultimately I would like to transfer a project from Mac to iPad and back to Mac with ease).

UPDATE: figured out my first error: I transferred the files, not the ‘project’ itself…opps…and was able to use iCloud to open the ‘project’ on the iPad, but all of the images were missing…so, now I need to figure out how to get that to work???

If you are working between iPad and Mac I’d recommend using embed assets in your project, overall it’s just easier.

However, if you do use linked assets, you will need to transport them in a organised way between devices.

Really, the recommended workflow for iPad and iPhone is projects with embedded assets.

We also have an update coming soon that will start to bring some of the new Blocs 6 features to iPad.

You can also use remote assets / warehouses images on iPad and Mac. Repository Manager has a special functionality in order to bulk import remote assets:
