Control carousel caption

Hi folks,
How do I get the caption and indicators moved with the Carussell? Should be under the photo. I tried a class but it doesn’t work.

The classes you want to use are

.carousel-indicators

And

.carousel-caption

How do I get that pushed down? By far it doesn’t work.

Hi @Piet your class is wrong. it should have a space before the li

You do not need to add these classes to the canvas, as they are already there in the structure of the carousel. Just adding them to the class editor to add styles is enough.

A quick example…

And the class to style the indicators is close to what you had. (keep spaces)

.carousel-indicators li

I found it really hard to get it done. First the writing was gone and I had to start all over again from backup. 2x. The indicators didn’t come along either, but had to be packed down individually. Actually a matter of half an hour. So with the nice help and several attempts 1/2 day. I think it would be better to pack such basic things completely in the sidebar.
Many thanks for the help!

Hi Piet, I agree that it should be easier, but referring to your point about the lettering disappearing, could this have been a z-index issue and the lettering was there but hidden behind the bloc below?
This has caught me out a few times, and I always now check be making the z-index ridiculously high.

i would love it if Blocs had in the side panel a simple check box offering to have the indicators outside or inside the image and option of lines or round icons or something. @Norm is it worth adding your skills on this and also for the left and right icons to be inside or outside too - would be a game changer for some on here.

I also suspected that writing flashed briefly. I then found out that it is a flying bric, not where I could control the z-index similar to div. There weren’t any other things there either. So I deleted everything and rebuilt it, then it worked. It would make sense to always have the text at the highest level - otherwise you can’t read it;)

Yes, a simple control section with text up, down, alignment, color, size, typography, etc. would be good. For this, animation, ScrollFX, attributes, etc., deactivate on / off.

I agree the flexibility is great - but some more simple options would be great.

The icons do not have to be fixed, some simple options of padding/margin for these could be put in place.

I understand how it all works - but so many users are coming from other platforms which have these in place. Having to hunt for classes can sometimes be painful for many.

I have created a personal list of all classes for things - so a bit of prep work it is easy - but to dig deeper in, it needs more depth of classes.

One bric I always wanted was a better hamburger menu and colour change for this and so many said it’s not worth it - then BOOM @PeteSharp delivered a bric which took away so many painful classes issues and made it simple. So simple in fact that this bric has everything from icons to colours to margin/padding, thickness, and even text now!!! It’s an incredible bric and one that you do not know you need till you have it. It’s some incredible work from Pete.

I would love to see an overhaul of the carousel with options of adding content within it rather than having to create in a div out of it and sneak it in the back door and then find classes to style it. Yes it works when it does - but if it had someone take it and re-create it - it would be a game changer for all users.

One thing too, that if no one selects the options then it stays the same as it is now for those that are happy using classes.

I use classes, but this would be a great progression for blocs

I’d love to be able to write brics!!! I have ideas!! But would never know what to do!

I have some stunning ideas - one day we will see blocs upgrade pack 1 by @Norm

Jerry, I can’t disagree with you.
Sure, you can set up and use classes for just about anything, but Blocs advertises as the tool that requires no coding.
That is what drew me in….now having said that, I use custom classes etc, but I think in the blocs spirit, the goal would be to reduce the need to code as much as possible, so many more, who won’t/can’t grasp coding will join us in this grand adventure to make amazing website.
We can not simplify everything, but where we can, why not?

At least, that is how I feel…

The built in brics give us the standard bootstrap features as @Jerry has referred too.

It’s a great foundation for then styling your own design, and you can choose to keep it simple or shoot for the stars - which comes with a learning curve not a tick box.

I know some people just want to design, but unless you’re working in a agency with a team of talent you really should learn the basics of html and css, if for nothing else but having a thought process that helps you build and problem solve.

Hi,
Did anyone know if there is a class to set up the width of the jpg ? When you look in this thread:

I don’t found a good and easy way to create a team slider with the carousel … to move the caption area helps a lot, but don’t found a easy solution for the picture

Tom

But the problem has always been actually finding what classes target what item, and now with Bootstrap 5 appearing, I understand a few are changing.

I’m not being argumentative for the sake of it @Jerry, but I’m just a part-time Blocs user and anything that makes life easier gets my vote!

One problem is that it is advertised: “The beauty of Blocs is that you can build amazing websites without any coding”. Now many designers expect it to work that way (I did when I bought it  or that the GUI is like InDesign, Illu, Photoshop and co. So mark the element and then style it. This is our primary job! It used to be called WYSIWYG. So the whole substructure with html, css, bootstrap, vanilla js “ballast” is actually of no interest to anyone except the nerds / programmers. But this is not the case. If you don’t just want to put a photo in the middle, you have to go to the “potted” one.

It is picked up by the forum, where you can ask any questions and receive friendly, competent answers. Thankyou for it! Still, I have never regretted relying on the power of renewal from @norm. It is sometimes tedious, but I’m just a beginner with this program.
