Shocking numbers from web builders
he pages where the LCP element was an image, [39%](Performance | 2022 | The Web Almanac by HTTP Archive) of those images had source URLs that were not discoverable from the HTML document source. In other words, those URLs were not found in standard HTML attributes (such as <img src="...">

Would it be essential to add fetchpriority="high"
to all
all images? If so, maybe @Norm, could implement this feature in Blocs.
I maybe mistaken, but I think the LCP metric is above the fold.
That’s the way I understand it as well. Testing a page on GTMetrix should explain this.
I never enable lazy load, but reading that article I wondered if that feature in Blocs might be affecting hero images if selected. The fetchpriority=“high” tag looks worthwhile for images near the top of the page.
Not sure what this means.

Above the fold is an old printing term, it refers to the bit you see before scrolling, Eg, folded newspaper.
You must be older than me or you were in the printing business.
It’s used in web design too.

To be fair there is a lot missing from those stats.
There are a lot of people making their own website now, not to mention a lot of cheap website companies. If people want cheap, thats what they get. Implementing a lot of this stuff takes time, which means money. Not to mention the shifting goal post, so if a website was 3/4 years old it would be missing a lot of the new SEO stuff.
It makes me thankful, that I am not in this field for a living. It’s just fun to learn.
