Hello community,
I’d like to ask for your help and your experience to give me some sound advice. I have a client who wants to create a showcase site to present UGC videos. She would like to be able to add her videos on their own depending on the theme and have visibility of the number of visits to her website. Is it possible to do this with blocks? I think she would need a connection dashboard to be able to add or remove videos? I haven’t opened blocs 6 yet but if it already has these features I’ll buy blocs shares lol
Blocs itself doesn’t have that feature, but there still @Jannis Repository Manager. No idea how you’d add a visitor counter. That’s so 90s ![]()
I had to look this up. RM is a great choice. ![]()
"User-generated content (UGC), alternatively known as user-created content (UCC), is any form of content, such as images, videos, text, testimonials, and audio, that has been posted by users on online platforms such as social media, discussion forums, and wikis.
we agree, but it’s customer demand. I think she wants to see the traffic generated on her site directly without having to go through google search console.
Sorry for my late reply, I didn’t get any notification
I didn’t understand your message. Can you please tell me more?
Hi @Alpha - if she wants to see traffic on her website, I would 100% try to move her into search console or something similar. There are a few page counters if you google search and some free ones, but they do look…hmmmmmm…but try your best to move her into a much more modern way of viewing traffic. Just my opinion - but would be good for her to see what videos they are clicking on, where they are engaged the most etc.
As for the videos, have a play with Repository Manager of if you have VOLT, see if there is a way you could do it in VOLT maybe if your client is doing it right and uploading the videos into Vimeo or Youtube, but Vimeo would be my choice - everyone I have used for things like this have had all their videos in Vimeo.
You could use Blog and have the list page showing all the video covers and a button under for more info, click on it and take you the the page with the video to click and it plays from the Vimeo link info on it below if needed - this would work flawlessly.
You have a few options - maybe what you or your client has sketched/noted maybe ask @Jannis what he thinks is the best way.
Good luck
Best way to see website traffic without including Google is to look at the hosting server stats for the domain name.
Thank you for your constructive feedback. I understand better and I agree with you that seeing the number of views on a video is much more interesting than seeing the number of views on a site which is quite retro. I’ve never used VOLT myself.
Are you saying there is such a thing?
I know how it is, I made it, it just wasn’t published, I don’t know if there’s a demand for it or not.
Hi, you can always use a local instance of Matomo on your server and add the dashboard as a part of the site, so it looks like she does not have to switch to somewhere else…
Sorry for my late reply. This kind of bric-a-brac is not in great demand. The ideal would be to do as in tic toc j epense with the number of views on the videos. My problem is how it can be automated to add or delete videos. The idea is to create the site but for her to be able to add videos on her own.
If she is adding the videos to YouTube she could edit the page with Volt CMS and include the videos from there.
I don’t think she use YouTube for stockage her videos. I think she upload directly in her website
