Display videos from own server or embed from 3rd party?

Hi,

I want to add around 10 short videos to a protected page on a site. Server space isn’t an issue, but I was wondering if there are any pros/ cons to displaying the videos directly from that source, rather than embedding them from an external source such as YouTube (unlisted)?

Having done both over the years… I now use YouTube (listed & unlisted).
My site currently has around the 40 videos mark - It tends to grow!
Early years I found that the cheaper hosting did allow videos to be streamed but the bandwidth I found restricted so delivery wasn’t the best. My hosting was on shared servers & no doubt everyone else was doing the same… YouTube is geared To deliver.
