I’m not sure there was a definitive solution for the facebook page embed problems discussed in previous topics, but I’m having an issue where it works in older versions of Safari, new versions of MS Edge on Windows and Android, but is broken in latest version of Safari and IOS.
I’m using an iframe and code bric.
Any ideas?
p.s. I started with the design with Eldar’s minimalist page and was making super quick progress, then you get a little issue like this to hold things up, c’est la vie
(Please note your facebook links may refer to en_GB or similar.)
I tried this and it had the effect of briefly displaying the facebook embed as the host page was loading but rapdily disappearing rather than not appearing at all.
Another reply suggested adding a Content-Security-Policy meta tag which I tried to no benefit - I suspect the proposed solution using this method was somehwat incomplete.
Like you, if anyone else has found a solution would love to know!
Further testing shows that this issue is part of the Private Relay/Hide IP Address mechanism which has been introduced by Apple.
This is a feature whihc can be turned on and off in Safari Privacy settings. This, of course, is not something that we can directly control within a user’s browser.
It can also be temporarily disabled by click and hold on the page reload symbol and selecting Reload and Show IP address. There is an equivalent operation on the iPhone.
It may be possible to overcome this by some means within the code of the website page but I think Apple have worked quite hard to make this a robust mechansim to reduce tracking etc. Short of a better answer it may be an idea to include a (browser specific) message advising viewers of the site how to make the facebook page visible when using latest Safari versions.
I think you are right, I’m pretty sure Facebook would have included some code on their plug in page if there was solution. I’ll have to have chat with the client to se how they would prefer to go.
