Looking awesome!
Great Bric. Itās an amazing feature added to Blocs. Flexi Filter is easy to use and customize.
What a super useful Bric!! Good job, Norm. ![]()
looks awesome, but for some reason i cannot log in to purchase. adn the forgot password link doesnt send me an email @Norm any help please?
You donāt need to login to purchase. Just click Buy button, and you will get the bric to your email.
Just looked at the video, this is fantastic, this is the type of Bric I love, something that has a unique functionality. Iāll be getting this at some point soon. Not this month though, just bought a new kitchen ![]()
GREAT work @Norm - love it !!! Another bric I can let clients know is available if they want this style and I can buy when needed. Very slick ! Can no wait to try it !
Glad you like it ![]()
Wow, this looks really great for a project Iām just working on. However I absolutely need these two features to be able to use it:
Are these two requirements possible?
Kind regards, David
I donāt know about the random one, but your second requirement is already possible with the current version of the bric. Just set the āSelectionā of the Tag Cloud to Multiple.
Thinking out loud, may work, I display random images using code in a Code Widget, see my post here and the downloadable project file example: Random images etc - #14 by SpookyDoo Could you use that method and then the filter? Or a step further could @Norm implement that code or a customised version of it in to the Bric?
Just an idea.
Tah
Ben
Hey @HappyVW,
Currently this is not a feature. ![]()
As Elder mentioned this one is supported. You can filter by multiple tags at once, There is a movie example that comes with the Bric that lets you filter by multiple genres at once.
Hi @HappyVW
If you dont mind me asking why in random order?
If anything this would put me off as a user - Surely when it displays it should be in the order as originally displayed, of course removing the ones not in the searchā¦ā¦having it random display makes no sense to me?
Norm,
The Flexi Filter bric looks great. Just one question; looking at the video, it seems like filtering only takes place on content that is entered on the page. I use:
Just to check; would that be an option using the FF-bric?
Thanks Ben for the hint, Iāll glady try it out!
Thank you @Eldar !
Thank you for taking the time to reply, Norm!
Iāll continue working on the project later this year, so Iāll see if the ārandom featureā is available by then or if I have to find another solution.
Honestly, if the Flexi Filter could also work with WordPress data, it would make for an amazing addition to any category/archive or even homepage in WordPress themes built with Blocs Plus.
Itās rather common to offer such variation even above the fold on pages or within sections of items users encounter. This type of random sort or shuffle (upon load or interaction) of filterable content allows for varied exposure of the items. Which can be pertinent given the known metrics concerning the lack of duration people spend on pages / sites.
This can be especially true on smaller or midsize sites with filterable e-commerce items, images, art, blog posts, general data, etc. Though not really comparative to larger sites and corporate sites that instead implement full fledged ranking algorithms for items. So for common Blocs sites it could certainly be beneficial, especially when many items are present and donāt fit into the users view.
As an example Isotope.js added it in early 2016 but such was even happening nearly a decade before that. This is also all quite easy in Vanilla JS with no library. Given this Bric is $50, such a simple user request for random sort / filter could be added as a āuser definable optionā for those who want such a feature.
My additional personal feelings are that these types of Brics / Features should be included in āBlocs Plusā and instead offered as āA la carteā for non Plus users to buy essentially allowing up-selling in both regards (the Bric or to Plus). This would make the Blocs Plus version itself more āPremiumā instead of selling single Brics for the same cost of the upgrade to āBlocs Plusā or the cost of āBlocs for iPadā. But that is just my opinion obviously. ![]()
