Font Manager - Google Fonts

Hello!
What’s going on with the Font Manager? After updating to v6.4.3, almost all my Google Fonts (those hosted on Google) have suddenly stopped working. It offers to load them, but some can’t be loaded even though they’re available on Google Fonts.
“Font Can’t Be Installed This font cant be downloaded.”
Is this a bug or the new font policy? Do all fonts now have to be installed locally?

Over the last few weeks we have had various reports regarding Google Font loading issues inside of Blocs, which is likely due to API changes made by Google, or new restrictions being introduced by Apple.

Since these initial reports, we have began modernising Google Font loading in various places within Blocs.

We started with the Font Selection Menu in 6.4.3 and will be rolling out more fixes soon.

Which version of MacOS are you using?

Also do Google fonts load correctly in any of these locations :backhand_index_pointing_down:?

  1. On Blocs Design Canvas.
  2. In Preview Mode.
  3. In Font Manager Preview.
  4. In Font Selection Menus in Blocs Class Editor.

Hi Norm,
actually, it varies. When I saw this in Bloc’s Design Canvas, I was so shocked that I didn’t even check the other views, so:

  1. All fonts are displayed incorrectly.
  2. Everything looks fine.
  3. Total chaos – sometimes right, sometimes wrong, no discernible pattern.
  4. Same as 3 – a mess.
Preview in the browser – everything’s fine.

When was the last time you installed a new Google font?

Also the latest version of Blocs (released today), now uses the newer version of the Google Font API (v2).

Hopefully this improves some of the issues you are encountering.
