Font radar

Question for all you experts out there I’ve had an email from someone at font radar saying that the font I’ve used requires a license

The font I downloaded from what I thought was an official site that said it was a free font so I’m a little unsure as to the legitimacy of this email

Would appreciate any advice

Which font is it and from which official site did you download it? The first step would be to clarify whether the font needs a license or not. You would need to know the name of the font and where you got it from…

The font is fenotype, Call peaches and cream and it was a little while back so I don’t recall which site it was

A quick look and it is by Emil Bertell on websites that list it to download, there are a few but one example is Peaches And Cream Font Free Download on that site it states “This typeface has a freeware version that is free for private projects. But if you think to use it in any commercial designs then the license is strictly required.”.

Thing is with these type of websites you can never really establish if it is genuinely free or commercial as some of these free font websites just scavenge fonts and put their own licence on it. In these instances I look for the actual creators website when I find one, which in this case is: https://www.fenotype.com/ however that font isn’t listed on their site, so it is a bit of a grey area as that would be the place that you would get the true licence information. Some of their fonts are listed as free for commercial and some aren’t.

I generally do not trust free font websites, even the mighty dafont. I use it as a starting point then do a little investigation.

I would reccomend visiting the creators website and contact them directly to get a true picture of the situation.
