Formatting in Span to make a BOLD word, makes my sentences cut in half?

Hi all,

I have a few paragraphs of text and I have to make some of the text in the middle extra bold. When I highlight the text, the B is not heavy enough - but I do have an extra heavy in this font. I guess i need to ‘wrap in span’ and create a custom class for this font weight - this works ok and shows…but then i get the whole sentence break in the middle and all the paragraph is split leaving lots of space after the word.

When I go into edit, it jumps back to how I want it to…when i view the site - I get half sentences…any help would be appreciated on how to keep the sentences on the full lines and not get just 3 words on a line !

I then found when i play with it - on desk top view it finally works…then tablet the text breaks again.

How about showing a screen shot?

Good shout! - I have just added it the the original post.

At the moment this is happening in SM and XS only.

Check out the “White Space” option under the Text tab in the class manager.

If your spans are in just a normal paragraph text bloc you can make a class called

p span

And adjust the white space. Else if you have a custom class, its just

my-custom-class span

Not tested, just a guess.

thanks I will try that !

I just tried that, so i keep my original settings - and created a new class P Span and after trying that : my-custom-class span

The White space option, I tried all the options and it stayed the same - or would i need to delete the original span?

Very strange how this is happening.

anyone got any other ideas how to style text in a paragraph other than span text?

Hi all,

@Eldar had a look at the file and noticed a bug straight away. If anyone is wrapping text in span and get your text sentence split in half, then go to the word you are adding the span class to and press space in front of it to move it forward, then add the format/class and then bring it back. Or do the class and -5 margin.

Brilliant - thanks @PeteSharp for the help and @Eldar

brilliant forum with great help all round. @Norm, you should have this sent over.
