Helping Those Affected By Helene

Not positive this type of post is allowed, so moderators are welcome to delete this.
We have had an unprecedented storm impact from Hurricane Helene in the Southeastern USA. Over 160 people have died and there are hundreds of thousands without power or food, and because of blocked and washed out roadways, they are unable to get out of many of these stricken areas.
FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) is doing what they can to help, but much more is needed.
I know times are tough but anything you can donate to either the
American Red Cross - https://www.redcross.org
OR
Samaritan’s Purse - https://www.samaritanspurse.org

would help those in distress during these rough times.

# Helene becomes the 2nd-deadliest U.S. hurricane since 2000

Thank you

Thanks @WeatherguyNH,

I live south of Tampa and our coastal communities have suffered a lot of damage from this storm, a lot of people are without a home, either from flooding and/or wind damage. Many businesses had to close, many restaurants at the beach, and the cascading effect is enormous. I can’t also imagine the suffering that is going on in North Carolina. We have many friends in that area, and we’re told they have no gas and no food in many areas. Thanks for posting this help is definitely needed.

Crazy for sure.

We had a similar situation here a couple of years ago. Some of the footage I have seen from Helene reminded me of it. Although this is a much larger scale, impacting a lot more people. I have clients in NC.

Did I hear right, they are expecting another one to come through?

Ricardo:

I am sorry to hear about your suffering and the suffering of those around you. I have a family member in South Carolina, but they are in better shape than many.
My prays go out to all who have been displaced because of this storm and I hope people donate as much as possible. Perhaps that will help speed up the recovery, and give some immediate relief.

Hi Pete:

There is some concern about a new system forming in the Gulf of Mexico next week.
If that happens, those that are already in dire need will be in danger once again.
Let us hope that does not happen…

Unfortunately, TS Milton has now formed in the Gulf, will be a Hurricane by the time it reaches Florida.
Current track estimates (that could change) has a direct hit on Tampa FL.
High pressure pushing south SHOULD keep this system from curving north and impacting GA/SC/NC…etc, so fingers crossed this system follows the expected path, but not good news for those in Central Florida.

Having said that, obviously, everyone in the region should keep an eye on this system!

Possibly, after this next one, there will be a bit more attention paid to climate change and its causes.

Good luck everyone in Tampa and surrounds.
