How to integrate Volt CMS and Repository Manager

I’m trying to use RM alongside Volt CMS and having problems. I’ve used Volt CMS quite a bit, so very familiar with this, but first time for RM, and nothing live to see, so let’s try and explain.
I have the basic site constructed in Blocs, with a few background images which won’t change, so they’re set as background images within Blocs. Planning on using RM to populate the galleries eventually.
Volt CMS added, and all previews as expected.
As I understand, when using the 2 alongside each other you need Volt Protect, so I add this and no matter what combination of settings of Enabled/Redirect to Login Page/Redirect to Forbidden Page (but also not a clue what should or shouldn’t be checked heer, I can’t find any info on that - or even something to show how to integrate VCMS and RM) are checked, preview just shows a ‘Forbidden’ warning.
So if I then delete Volt Protect and add in Repository Manager and go to preview, all of the ‘baked in’ Blocs background images are missing. Having the 2 added still shows the ‘FORBIDDEN’ warning.

Now I know a lot of you are using the 2 successfully together, but could someone take me by the hand, be very gentle and walk me through the instructions of what I should be doing. I’ve been trying this off and on for the past 2 weeks without any success whatsoever, so I’m pretty sure it’s user error on my behalf. Please explain like I’m a 5 year old!

As a slight aside, if I uploaded videos into RM, can I pull them into Volt CMS, or is that only hosted vids?

Thanks everyone - and apologies to those of you using the 2 successfully together!

Have you tried using it without adding the protect bric? Try checking “Basic Authentation” and create a username and Paasword Hash and give it a root directory. When you click on the repository page I think it will come up with the usename and passord field. Give it a try.

Thanks @casey1823 i shall try that in a couple of days and report back.

Can you have the same Volt CMS and Repository Manager passwords do you know?

If you use protect block with the repository manager you can use the standard volt login page. Once you login and go to the repository page it should show up. This is how I have one of my sites setup. If you go the VOLT CMS webpage there is a Repository install video. The developer will also help.

That’s wht I’ve been trying to do, but all previews get screwed up locally with stuff that isn’t RM related. Is that normal??

Also, I’ve been on the Blocsaddons page and yes, there’s something there showing how to install RM, but not how to integrate with Volt CMS, and it’s these niceties that I need to get MY head around as I’m going around in cirlcles just not knowing what should be happening locally. A proper integration tutorial would be a great help.

I realise that none of the RM stuff (or Volt CMS at the moment, apart from the placeholders) should be showing, but it’s the non-preview of Blocs stuff that’s really throwing me off as I don’t know if that’s a preview quirk or not.

I shall look into it more in a couple of days, but thanks for the replies. Have a good evening.

If you use page protect, use the “enable” checkbox to disable the protection for preview purposes.
