Image preview doesn't work

I thought there would be a ton of inquiries about this one, and since there’s not, maybe I’m missing something obvious. Again. Image preview never works for me. When I important an image (anywhere) the image box just shows as empty. The image is there if I post, and if I quit out of Blocs and relaunch, it shows-up.

What’s up with that?

Not sure if this has any relevance but is Wireframe mode on? in canvas settings in the main menu. (the central hambuger menu, near the preview button)

Which location are you running Blocs from? It needs to be run form the same HD as the OS.

You usually get this if Blocs is run on an external HD or and additional internal one.

I’m using a MacPro tower (2019) with 8 TB of SSD. I divided that into a 1TB partition for OS and all software. The other 7TB partition is for client data. Then I have a series of ext drives for video files and back-up. So your app does live in the same partition as the OS, which is current. Also, I was not having this problem initially. It may have come when I upgraded to v6. I thought it was happening because I was using v6 to manage sites which had been built with v5, but recently I started building new sites, and it’s still happening–all the time.

No, not running in wireframe.
Thx though.

Every time I’ve heard about this issue, I’ve noticed a connection to the storage location of the assets. I use the Blocs app and store all my files on the same drive, and I also make sure to use the embedded assets feature. Therefore, I’ve never experienced this problem myself.

Understood. Most of my sites carry way too many photos to embed them all. Have to link them.

I’ve always embedded my images - never linked them, so can’t comment if that could be the issue. Have you tried embedding to see if that solves the issue?

I’ve had some pretty heavy image sites and had no issues at all.

Good luck and hope you find the issue.

Apple have some strict permission in more recent versions of MacOS that can cause issues when trying to display content from external drives or alternative drives and loading them into a WKWebview (which is what Blocs uses for the canvas).

Could I get you to try creating a test project and adding some images to a site and hosting these images on your Macs desktop location.

Save the project and reload it after a Blocs restart. Let me know if those assets load in.

For websites with many photos, I actually always stored them on the server and add them to Blocs’ Asset Manager as Hosted Assets. This saves a lot of time when updating the website too.

Absolutely, but I don’t have a clear understanding of what this means…

For the test, make sure you have your images stored in this location.

When I first bought my MacBook Pro, the default location was set up already in iCloud. I was not aware, bring new to macOS, the Desktop being one of the folders that would be chosen. I soon learned my assets out grew the iCloud storage. It was time to pay. Instead I contact Apple and requested help to move all of the default assets to my SSD and out of iCloud.
Knowing this… my asset our now on the SSD build into my MAC.
