Large Website Risks

Hello @Norm @Helen @Eldar or anyone willing to give this question a go.

Does anyone have experience with creating very large documents with Blocs yet? Meaning 200,000 words, upwards of 50 links per page, with an average page length of about 4,000–6,000 words. It’s a technical document.

The first 90,000 words are broken into 25 Chapters. The rest of the text is mostly a glossary of terms broken into about 425 pages. The chapters with link to the terms an terms will link back out to every one of term references in the chapter.

I was think of using minimalist and flexi filter. That way I could also tag and organize everything. The search bric might be useful in that I could set each page to reference the glossary terms and from there navigate the guest to the appropriate location in the chapter.

What do you think?

I imagine it’s possible as a static site, however, it may be a better option to build a lightweight Wordpress theme for this.

The main benefit is, it’s database driven, you would build the theme in Blocs then input all text data in WP backend.

Makes it a lot easier to manage, migrate and backup over time.

Wordpress backend is designed for large text documents.

And Blocs Plus lets you build WP themes fairly easily.

I must agree with Norm. Over the past decade, I’ve created quite huge and expansive pages in Blocs, but they haven’t been particularly text-heavy. In my opinion, CMS would be a significantly more suitable choice for such projects.
