Local font issue with Blocs 4.5.2

I’m using our corporate font as local font for desktop usage (using MacOS fontbook) and I try the install the equivalent webfonts (woff or woff2) but Blocs warns that the font is aleady installed. They do NOT appear in the Blocs font menu even if I deactivate the desktop fonts. I tried to install the webfonts via the Preferences as suggested in your tutorial.

Thanks for your support!

If I understand you correctly, you cannot access fonts from the user library. You basically need a ttf, along with woff and woff2 conversions stored in another location, then added to Blocs.

Woff2 is fine for most users and would be the default choice for most browsers. It’s a problem with IE if that is a consideration and that is where one of the other formats would help.

Yes, I was first installing the OTF for some corporate design in Adobe. Then, when I switched to Blocs I decided to install the WOFF or WOFF2 with the Preferences Panel. And at this point I get the warning “This font is already installed”… But they do not appear in the Blocs menu. I usually used Adobe fonts that worked properly. But for that project, I did buy some designer fonts. You mean I need to have the ttf?

Not necessarily. I’ve just known some that try to install fonts located in the user font library and that causes problems. You should try adding a folder of Web fonts and not fonts individually if you are doing that.

Thanks for the video you sent me!!! That worked perfectly! Woff and TTF grouped in a folder!
Great! Thanks again for the support!

Yes that seems to be where various new users get stuck. Glad you are sorted.

Hi Flashman.

This time I have the same issue with another set of fonts (commercial designer font with a license), but this time with Blocs 5.1.4. OTF fonts are installed in order to work in FIGMA. When I try to install the Wof or Wof2, Blocs says that the font are already installed. But they are unavailable in Blocs. I tried te deactivate the OTF, to group the Wofs in one dedicated folder, but nothing works!

The web fonts (in 2023: WOFF and WOFF2) must be installed in the following folder:
user >> Library >> Application Support >> Blocs 5 >> fonts >> Archivo-Bold >> Archivo-Bold.woff, Archivo-Bold.woff2

Hi Ghost.

Still not working. By default there is NO Blocs 5 folder created in the Library… I creted the coplete chain to the WOFF and WOFF2 but I still encounter the same issue :frowning:

@PatrickGraf If you are on Blocs4 , then you need to use Blocs 4 in the path that Ghost talked about.

I’m on the last update 5.1.4

Well… installing Adobe Fonts also does not work. I will go back to the old good Worpress to set up this site. Will be much quicker!

@PatrickGraf Maybe the fonts are corrupted, did you try to install other fonts?

Here you can find the help pages about the Font Manager in Blocs.
https://help.blocsapp.com/knowledge-base/font-manager/#install-local-web-font

You don’t install Adobe fonts, you assign the property ID as these are web fonts.

Here is how.

Thanks! This works, but you have to select “Activate Google fonts” in the project settings in order to display the Adobe fonts in the font menus.

My local fonts works properly in Wordpress. I asked the type foundry if they had any issues with this font. Apprently not. I just tried with a freshly downloaded ZIP. Still the same error message!

Would you be able to share a copy of the font for me to test with?

Yes for sure! I have a ZIP ready for you with the WOFF2

By the way. I have 2 licenses of Blocs and 1 was freshly installed on a brand new Mac and I have exactly the same issue as with the older setup.

Can you give me your email? I can’t upload files directly here!

Thanks a lot!
