Local mp4 not playing on iOS and Android

I know you’re all busy with various projects, si I appreciate anyone willing to check this issue out.

armwrestlingseries.com

Encoded a video for these breakpoints. All of them are local.
1920X1080 (120 mb) video bric for a Tablet
1280X720 (37 mb) video bric for a Laptop
720X480 (20 mb) video bric for a Mobile

Since they are on a very fast Server, I figured they load fast, but for some reason not fast enough.
More importantly they are not autoplaying in 4 major Desktop browsers.

What could be the problem? Lazy loading? Need to be on YT or Vimeo?

Most browsers wont allow autoplay with sound, you have to mute the video.

Thanks Pete, if anyone had the answer, it would be you.
I thought it was muted, but what you’re saying is if the video is not muted it will not play. is that right?

The video WILL play, but not automatically. You will have to add controls to the video so that users can start the video. If you remove the audio track, the video can be set to autoplay.

Thank you your reply. I need it to play without control buttons. Like once the website is accessed.

In which case you will have to remove the soundtrack - everything will then work as you want.

Curious, how did they get their video to autoplay with sound
baron-baron.com Is it because they are using vimeo?

Their video’s do not autoplay with sound on any of my devices. In order to hear the sound track, I have to click on the video, which appears to open a new video over the silent background video.

I stand corrected, you have to click on the video.

This is so frustrating. You see what I have done and still this does autoplay (yes, it is muted) on a iOS or Android device.

Curious would this work better responsively if it was in YT or Vimeo?

I would like to get so script or player that would does not present any issues. Anyone one’s help would be appreciated.

Hi ya,

I add a lot of videos to websites for clients using a mix of various ways. What are you trying to do exactly - video to auto play? Again this can still be browsers dependant I guess

When I click your original link I get no videos on my phone.

You may want to try this…

Even the Auto play option in Any Video is at the mercy of browsers. iOS won’t autoplay. That’s by intention.

Apple iOS is so good in the vast majority, but in this case it’s stupid!

Android also won’t autoplay, so it’s not just an iOS thing. The issue is a universal one - the fact is that it isn’t a great idea to have someone visit a web page and then unexpectedly find they have an audio or video soundtrack blaring out of their device. This became such a problem at one point that browsers across the board decided to disable this function altogether. Even YouTube and Vimeo won’t play anything without the express consent of the user (given when the user hits the play button).

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain the autoplay issue.

Whatever the issue was, I believe it is fixed now.
