Multiple index.html files in a project

Hi All,

I’m building a site and rather than have all the .html files in the root folder I’m using the ‘path’ option in ‘page settings’ to publish pages in folders like this…

website.url/news/news-story1.html
website.url/news/news-story2.html
website.url/news/news-story3.html

I now want to create an index.html page in the /news/ folder with a list of all the news stories, but when I try and create the page and call it “index” Blocs gives the following error…

“Index may not be assigned as a page name via the page settings. If you would like to set a different home page for your site, that can be done via project settings.”

It’s telling me I can’t have two pages called index.html even though they will be published in different folders, so won’t conflict with each other.

Is there any way around this, or do I need to rethink the whole site taxonomy?

Thanks in advance

I’m not entirely clear on what you are aiming to achieve. Couldn’t you select the option for clean urls without using the path option, and then create a sitemap page with a list of links inside Blocs?

I think your problem is that the home page will always be called index.html and I guess Blocs doesn’t like this internally. In theory you could always upload a file manually with an FTP app though.

Perfect! Clean URLs wasn’t selected in the export - all working now.

Thanks @Flashman :+1:
