My 2019 MacBook Pro is crawling after the latest update

Hello :waving_hand:

My MacBook Pro 16-inch (i9/16GB) is suddenly super slow after I updated to macOS Taheo. I’m getting poor performance in apps like Blocs, and the fans are constantly spinning up.

I have already tried using a utility like CleanMyMac and have also completely reformatted the laptop, but the issues persist.

What steps would you advise I take next?

Are you noticing it with other apps also or just Blocs?

People in general have been reporting sluggishness in general on the few supported Intel devices and even m1 to m4 machines also, the later seems sporadic in many cases.

Hi @AnasHyeee

If you can, reset it to the Sequoia system. I haven’t updated anything yet, neither my computer, nor my phone, nor my iPad, nor anything else. From what I’ve read and heard about the experiences, there are still plenty of problems with the new system.

Wait if it is the same with 26.1

Hi @Blocs_User

Oh, yes, even Google Chrome - my laptop works hard. Really sluggishness in Intel devices and even M1 to M4 machines, also

I was thinking :thought_balloon: to Reset to the Sequoia. Please don’t upgrade systems

I have to wait :open_mouth: I formatted my Mac, but it’s still slow :snail:.

@AnasHyeee I have no intention of updating, unfortunately I notice that there are more problems with newly released systems every year, they can no longer provide the same quality as before, and in many cases they do not focus on the main problems.

Hey @AnasHyeee,

Sorry to hear things are slowing down with Blocs and other apps on your Intel Mac running macOS26.

Unfortunately we don’t have access to any of the Intel Macs that support macOS26 so we can’t do direct testing for that use case.

However, before you retreat back to Sequoia, heres a few things to check.

• I would first suggest checking your login items and disabling an system wide apps you have running, screen capture apps etc. These can cause issues from the get-go.

• I’ve read that some users are seeing problems with Electron apps specifically on Tahoe, this list may be useful.

• I would also suggest trying Blocs for Mac 6.3 (which is in beta). This version is compiled with the lasted Apple SDK (unlike 6.2.3) so you may get better performance.

• And of course try the latest beta of macOS 26, as this may also include fixes in that version.

Many prominent apps use Electron, there is no shame in that.

Tahoe users can use this little app if the blame game needs to be Electron, with it you can see which apps you may have and if they are updated to an appropriate Electron version.

Given all the varied and widespread issues that users are reporting, including with Apples own apps, Apple indeed has their own issues within macOS Tahoe. Someone should put together a corresponding ShameApple site that denotes all the current and unfixed issues over various still supported macOS versions.

I actually don’t think Blocs is the main cause of the sluggishness on my Intel Mac running macOS 26

I’m holding off on going back to Sequoia for now.

As for checking my login items and system-wide apps, I actually ended up doing a full reformat of my Mac recently, so I have a clean system to start with.

I just downloaded and installed Blocs v6.3 (beta) and I’m seeing an immediate improvement compared to v6.2.3. I’ll spend more time testing it out tomorrow morning and will report back on how it’s performing.

Thanks again for your help and advice!

Hello @Blocs_User

Regarding the wider issues, I’m definitely starting to think the best approach is just to wait for new macOS 26 (Tahoe) updates
