Maybe I’m still too nineties or just too old at almost 60… but what is the new login mode for if I still have to register again here in the forum and in the store? I thought it was 2024 and today everything works wonderfully with APIs?
Maybe it will work with version 10 … nonsense aside - it would be super convenient if you didn’t have to create an account for everything that works under your service. Nowadays you have to create an account for every “crap” out there, my password book is soon bursting at the seams.
I do agree. There was no real need for having an account created and not providing a license key. However, the way I see it is that just in case the license key was already talking to the server to know how many times it can be used still (x2 devices simultaneously) then, for all purposes, we are now simply seeing a frontend to it.
We could have received a button to Deregister Device, Activate License, etc. without the need to store another password in our password managers. But it is what it is, and we as consumers have to deal with it.
I am not sure if @Norm decided to do this on his own as a choice, or if this was somehow necessitated by the payment processor.
The old system didn’t meet our needs or the needs of many users, license management has become complicated when you are working with 6 versions of Blocs. Going forward you will use the same login for every version of Blocs you purchase from Blocs 6 upwards, so this will make things a lot more simplified from here on out.
Having our own system also meant we could give you more information regarding activated devices and a better user workflow for deactivating them remotely, even when you forget to deactivate another Mac when you sell it or format it.
