New site and thanks!

Hi:
I wanted to share my latest creation with my blocs buddies.
Back story: I originally created this site for a friend at least 8 years ago.
Back then I was using(or trying to use) Adobe Dreamweaver. I put up a site that my friend was happy with and we left it there.
Several years after that Adobe moved to subscription software, leaving people like me who “dabble” in site building behind. I could not justify paying Adobe hundreds of dollars per year while using a minuscule amount of their software, and frankly, not able to use it to its fullest. (And for the record, I abhor subscription software anyhow)
Also, in this time frame I had to move to a new Mac. That meant my old DW6 installation would no longer work in Apple’s 32 bit world.
I started looking for another web solution and decided to try Rapid Weaver. Once again, I was overwhelmed by the learning curve and the cash investment (because it comes with nothing in my view) was not making me happy. Also, trying to get detailed help was very difficult. No one would answer a question, or would answer a question weeks later.
Enter Blocs: I saw one of Norm’s flashy videos, purchased Blocs 3, and then promptly forgot about it. It was a friend on a RW message board, that suggested I try Blocs. I already owned it, and I have never looked back.
Back to the new site….since I could no longer update my friends site created in DW, I explained the situation and suggested we reprogram his site, which was looking pretty dated at this point.
We started by using a template from Eldar, but after several weeks of back and forth discussions, I decided to abandon the template and build the site from scratch.
I am the first to admit that I am NO designer, or even a good website builder, but with the help I received here on this forum, and Eldar’s great tutorials I was able to stick this together.

I want to thank the following BlocHeads for their help and support during this build:
Norm for creating Blocs
Eldar for his advice, his courses, and modules
Jannis for the excellent iconic gallery bric and his support to get it working
Pete for his help, with the excellent Any Video bric and some scripting
Jerry for answering my stupid questions, and being a legend.

I must say I have a new found sympathy for those who create sites for a living and must “translate” what someone “thinks” they want and what can actually be accomplished.

Thank you everyone!!

Lovely stuff Rich. Looks great.

Just one thing I noticed on the desktop. On the Home page the bottom ‘fade’ doesn’t become fully opaque, so you’ll need to experiment with a bit more margin/padding between that and the footer.

Great stuff though, both the site and the product!

Thanks Trev…will look at that…

Well done ! looks FAB!

Coming from a living legend…that is a high compliment!

Thank you

Adie:

Used Iconic Galleries as we were discussing the other day.
That really is a very good Bric. I hope Jannis decides to add more transition/display options “stuff” down the road. :crossed_fingers:

Interestingly the HTTPS version contains a completely other website.

Yeah ! Its Rich’s own website.

Runs as a sub domain…

I think I fixed that for the moment

Hi @WeatherguyNH

Just to note I do think when the https is applied (if this is what is being done?) then I am sure this will point to your website still so be careful when its active/applied.

You said its fixed, but still showing as not on mine anyway?

Click on that link from Jannis above.

Thanks Adie. It is NOT fixed. Spoke with my web host this morning, I see what I did wrong, going to fix it today.
I appreciate everyones feedback on this. I didn’t realize that I had screwed that up as well!
Don’t know how you guys do this for a living!!! :grimacing:

No problem - didn’t want whoever apply the https applied and the lovely website you have done vanished!

Good luck on it.

Adie/Jannis/Others:

All fixed now. I really had that screwed up, but the site is now secure and working as it should.
It has been moved to fredpuksta.com and the older site link files I started this post with will be deleted today.

See…you guys helped me out again. Thank you!!
