New website built with Blocs 6 & Wordpress

Hi everyone,

I hope you all have a fantastic holiday season!

I wanted to share my new Blocs Templates website, which I rebuilt from scratch using Blocs 6 Plus and WordPress. As many of you know, I’m about to release the new Blocs 6 course (or a free module for the Blocs 5 Course) that teaches how to add a WordPress blog to the Blocs app. Rebuilding the Blocs Templates website from scratch with WordPress was essentially my training session before recording the course lessons.

In my experience, Blocs 6 works very well with WordPress. I understand that many Blocs users have switched from WordPress in the past, but I believe that using Blocs with WordPress significantly improves the experience.

The course I’m releasing on WordPress is almost complete. If everything goes according to plan, it will be released sometime next week! :muscle:

Cheers,
Eldar

I was unwell for a few days, as if my body had decided to force me to take a break. But I’m finally feeling better and will complete the course and publish it soon!

I hope everyone else had a better New Year’s holiday than I did.

Sorry to hear this @Eldar , good to hear you are on the mend.

We came back from Florida with colds/flu etc from being on a plane for 9hrs coming home and everyone coughing like crazy on it - we have not had covid tests but seems like its back in areas.

Great work on the Wordpress site and looking forward to the video coming out.

Eldar, one thing I like to know on the course video you are bringing out, will it show the below as this is what I would like to know, and maybe @Norm you could answer some as well as might be things not in the course by Eldar, but some things I would like to know.

  1. When Blocs gets an update, how do we update this within WP so its seamless, or if this done via Wordpress on the plugin so the 2 run side by side seamlessly?
  2. I do get customers who have used WP in the past and have bought into plugins, will the course show how to create pages for adding these into WP and show how to create pages in WP etc.
  3. Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this, but seems Guttenburg is the choice of free editors on WP, is this fully compatible in WP and Blocs so we have some WP freedom in design?
  4. Will we see a WooCommerse video too at any point? if not, Norm this should be pretty seamless within WP and Blocs?
  5. I guess Yoast for SEO is still fully compatible as it’s a WP site. I have had clients who have used Yoast in the past and I have lost work as they have SEO companies that insist on Yoast access.

Looking forward to the video. I will be honest I have pushed away from WP as Blocs is in a damn good position with me not to use it and I sell what I do now and the business modal is working well.

But if our favourite builder has a branch for new things, it would be a shame not the check it out.

HI @AdieJAM

I hope you had a wonderful time in the US with your family!

While I do discuss some of these topics in the course, as it’s my first WordPress course for my followers, it doesn’t delve deeply into subjects like WooCommerce or even SEO. As I worked on this course, I’ve already begun contemplating the idea of creating a more comprehensive course covering everything related to WordPress. However, that would be a significantly larger project. The course I’m releasing is intentionally focused on utilizing WordPress as a Content Management System (CMS) for Blocs.

I could answer in more detail when I get more time, but in short:

It depends on how you manage the content of the site. You can use both WordPress and Blocs, or you can use solely WordPress, or you can use mostly Blocs and occasionally use WordPress. Depending on your choice, the number of times you’ll actually need to run the Blocs app alongside WordPress will vary significantly.

You are free to use Wordpress plugins in Blocs generated themes as with any Wordpress theme.

Guttenberg is the name of the built-in visual editor for WordPress. I’m not sure what the question is, but essentially, with the workflow we have in Blocs, you design and style the website in the Blocs app, and then use the WordPress dashboard to add content. I don’t see any reason to use Blocs if you’re also going to be adjusting the style within WordPress.

Maybe in the future, but it’s mostly Wordpress, and not related to Blocs at all. You can just watch the videos available for WooCommerce right now and it will apply to your Blocs theme as well.

Yes!

Hi Eldar,

Yeah we had a GREAT time thanks! Mickey and all the gang were in great form !!!

Yeah it makes sense on what you are doing, as I guess in reality all the extra things for Wordpress should 100% work, there is no reason why they would not so watching the videos for these and bringing them into Blocs will work.

Edit,

hey @Eldar your last post, we posted at the same time and more or less said what I was thinking.

I guess a lot of it will be trial and error on my side and playing with what works etc.

I was purely thinking if I wanted to add a quick page or page change, if this could be done quicker in WP once its up by using Guttenberg, I am sure a mix of the 2 would be possible.

To be honest - I am saying all this, but Blocs as it is ticks every box! but interested to have this option if I have a client who demands it in the WP way.

I made my life harder by recreating every lesson.

Initially, I planned to show how to use the new Corporate template to build a hypothetical WordPress website. But I’ve decided to start over. My goal is to show you how to use WordPress with Blocs on a real website, like in the Blocs 6 Masterclass where I rebuilt BlocsLibrary.com.

So, my new WordPress course is about converting my own website to WordPress. I’m uploading all new lessons to Podia and BlocsMaster.com soon. In the meantime, watch the course overview on YouTube:

Great @Eldar,

Hopefully this will inspire new users to create Wordpress Themes with Blocs.
