I’m enjoying my blocs try out, and learning an awful lot. I intend to purchase.
One of the things that I’m absolutely a crazy dumb brick at uploading files to my provider. I understand the exporting of a file, but there’s many uploaders. Cyber duck is recommended in the documentation.
Is this the best for a dummy like me, or is just an ftp uploader that’s “too dumb to fail” like people like me,
I am not sure there is any FTP app that is “too dumb to fail” but some are certainly better than others. I have always found Cyberduck to be somewhat unintuitive. Forklift works well as does transmit or even the venerable old Fetch for simpler workflows.
If you want free you could try FileZilla or even the older version of Forklift might serve your purposes.
Forklift is your friend.
Or you may try this:
With Blocs, I bought Forklift at the time, because unfortunately Blocs does not offer this function – my previous version GL and DW had it integrated. (However, Forklift has not taken the right path and overwritten a wrong URL, you have to be careful).
Forklift will only write over the path you set and that should be visible when you connect.
As a safety measure I will often connect, then download the existing server contents to a folder in the desktop before deleting everything on the server and uploading the new exported changed. It’s a bit long winded, however it does ensure some safety.
Thanks everyone. I’m a little surprised that a program the quality of Blocs does not offer this internally.

Actually it’s good that it is not inbuilt.
Why? You always have to chase errors why the upload to special FTP servers isn’t working. With not including, @Norm is able to concentrate on more important stuff.
Agree. Also with dedicated programs you have great workflow features that you would never get with built FTP.
I know of another app that built it in. But it was kept simple. And now I see endless requests for features for it. The developers are better focusing their time on the core app.
I wonder how the makers of transmit or forklift would react if they were asked to include an advanced web design app as part of the features and deal with all the support requests.
I use Transmit Woody.
Very happy with it…
