I have added a PDF download to a site via a button, but in preview, every time it’s clicked, I receive the following error message:
The requested resource /downloads/ausbildung.pdf was not found on this server.
I’m reworking the site from a copy of the original. The linked file works on the original, though I have changed the PDF on the new version. All names/ ext are correct. I’ve also tested the new file on a blank, trial site and there are no problems. The problem only exists on the ‘copied’ site.
I’ve spent 2 hours trying to get this to work, to no avail. Any ideas?
Yes and no. When I just checked (thank you for your suggestion), there wasn’t a ‘Downloads’ folder where I export the site, so I added one manually, including the PDF. It still doesn’t work. Also, every time I export the site (either fully or 'only changed), the Downloads folder gets deleted from the export location.
I did 2 websites last week with over 130 PDFs in total! (Yeah! - don’t ask!) and all worked well. Never had an error message with PDF, so might be worth re-adding it. Sounds like the server has not added it properly.
Yes, it’s weird. I’ve tried different PDFs, but still the problem. I’ve managed to get it working ‘live’ now by adding the file to the server manually.
I’ve had this type of thing before. Occasionally blocs will not export all of the downloads.
They are in the programme but not exported so when that goes via ftp it’s deficient the file.
I can’t replicate it as it’s random but happens relatively regularly.
So i make some adjustments either kn the blocs file or change the file name, delete the original and re import it to the blocs file with the new name. Then export and that seems to work. But not a proper full solution
Not sure what it is, but every time I export the project locally to my ‘upload’ folder, the ‘downloads’ folder isn’t created. I can add it manually to the server, but because of my FTP app, any changed files are synced, so the ‘downloads’ folder is removed.
This is only happening with one site, so there is something that’s not playing game.
