Renumber/Reordering BLOCS Issues

I recently encountered another problem with moving, copying or renumbering blocs.

When I add a new BLOC sometimes it doesn’t add a number (Bloc-#bloc-2) sometimes it’s blank. Which make linking to it or using Interactions impossible.

Last evening when I was trying to renumber my BLOCs to keep everything neat and orderly I got a message saying the number I was trying to use was already in use. When I renamed the BLOC it disappeared. I was only able to recover the BLOC by undoing to the point before it disappeared.

This isn’t the first time I’ve had this issue and it’s happened with brand new projects as well as project I’ve been working with for a while.

It’s a little unnerving when BLOC start disappearing, especially on a live production website.

Interesting I’ve never seen this before.

Are you saying when you give a Bloc an ID it disappears? From where? the entire project or the layer tree?

Norm,

I posted a similar issue a few months back.

And yes, the entire bloc disappears from the project and layer tree.

I noticed that no matter how careful I am with my BLOCS projects they always reach a point where the project file becomes unstable and starts exhibiting random behaviors like disappearing blocs, opening a recovery file at startup, image sizes a different for the exact same size files, etc.

I really like BLOCS and want to continue to be able to use it but I can’t afford to have my projects randomly fold and become unstable. I keep my Mac very clean and do not run all but the essential software needed for my business.

Of course I understand, we have some improvements in 6.3 which stop Blocs from not rendering in the layer tree, so work is already underway to improve this.

It would be great to get a before and after copy of a project so I can take a look and investigate.

I’ll send you a DM now :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
