Why does Blocs fail so miserably to show me EXACTLY what I’m designing in review mode?! Especially when it come to smaller breakpoints (tablets and mobile) I cannot get any accurate bearings to feel confident that any design will be reproduced even reasonably well on mobile devices. Not to mention how classes so frequently do not adhere to the breakpoint I’m working in and thus make for a maddening whack-a-mole editing sequence. This has been a problem in Blocs for years. So fed up with this!
Do you have possible ideas how you foresee it could be improved.
Any pictures etc. to show the differences? Without a point of reference it’s difficult to know just what is gong wrong.
Are you adding a class to something and it’s cascading to ther breakpoints? That would be my first check.
The classes not sticking to the right breakpoint is the more serious issue, that’s not preview accuracy, that’s a workflow problem. Worth checking whether your classes are being applied at the base level instead of the breakpoint level, that’ll cause exactly the whack-a-mole you’re describing.
Yes. Build entirely separate blocs for each website with distinct classes assocuated with every design.
I definitely am not using classes to my best advantage and need to step up my game around that.
Here’s a simple example: the program shows the text configuration I wish but then the preview doesn’t reflect that. When I publish to a development subdomain and then check on my iPhone (the target break point here) it looks fine. Is there a way to make the XS workspace in Blocs actually reflect the size of the target breakpoint?
Hey @blocman94 sorry for the frustrations, are you aware the breakpoints are ranges not fixed widths?
That likely explains the text wrapping difference from your screen shots.
Unless I’m misunderstanding the issue here.
Hmmmm im a little confused, as the bottom image looks wider than the top one…if you want that to reflect, just press enter after the ’ method ’ text?
I have had clients ask me to keep text to certain lines in the past, so I just dropped the whole lot of text in a DIV container and then sized that div for width for the text - several ways to keep the text in the way you want it…
Thanks Norm. Apologies for the rant. That tends to happen during 2am work nights. But still, and even as fixed ranges, I still wish I could use them in Blocs more to my advantage. And often whatever I change in XS gets applied to SM in ways that don’t make sense to me. I’m needing to complete revamp how I use classes to that effect.
Agreed. And perhaps I should be using DIVs but also separate blocs of text for each break point instead of making one, or even two, work for every breakpoint.
I have worked with a LOT of website builders in the past and they are all the same, the great thing with Blocs is so many ways to get the end results.
Good luck in whatever you are trying and please post your website when done.
