Hi
I’m curious to know anyone’s thoughts on layout design.
Question.
Do you prefer single or multiple page websites?
If so, can I ask why?
Thanks so much.

For very small websites I use a onepager. SEO is easier to do with multipages because you can optimize every single page.
That’s interesting. Thanks @wolfganghofer
SEO is an interesting aspect indeed.
Are there real differences in ranking between onepagers and multipage websites?
You can use different titles on a multi-page website and titles are important for SEO. And it is easier to optimize target topics and keywords than trying to reach all topics on one page.
yes, thank you, @wolfganghofer I understand that it is easier.
I was just wondering if differences in ranking would be known
(for the same content of course).
@Fourier
I personally like onepagers only better when there is not so much content. Also have in mind the scrolling on mobile when there is a lot of content.
So, it seems what’s better for SEO here, is also nicer as a user experience, but that may be a matter of taste.
It‘s not just easier to optimize a multipage website. Some important thinks like different titles for different topics is impossible on a onepage website. And titles are very important for the ranking. But I created already onepagers when there was very little content and the ranking is ok.
Thanks @Ms_Sun
Yes, that seems to be a really relevant aspect of the discussion. The artistic visualisation over the SEO importance when it comes to mobile for instance. Also the time span of peoples attention.
Yes. I think it seems one pagers have their place with regards to content. But you seem to say SEO is the fundamental reason to multi pages. Is there any other reason outside of that?
P.S
Du bist Englisch ist viel besser als mein Deutsch.
Hi! As you already mentioned, it depends on how much content a website has. A lot of content asks for a multipage website.
Yes that does seem to determine it on many levels. Thanks @wolfganghofer
Small sites are much better received from a user on a 1 or even a 2 page website.
It also depends on the target use - if SEO is key for the business then multipage is much better, this will pull in visitors and sales/business.
Years ago I did a few basic sites for gardeners etc - that was 1 page, 4 sections.
@AdieJAM thanks for that input. Yes it seems these are then the main reasons for the pro’s and con’s.
I’ve noticed a lot of sites seem to place a lot on the main page now and link to the multiple pages as opposed to the days when you kept the main brief with links to what what was important elsewhere.
Some sites look like they have two systems in one. Allowing the main page to have nearly all the main information in case the attention span of the visitor is short.
