They probably want your .bloc file the same as @Eldar has provided. ![]()
I’ve provided a ton of free solutions over the years.
This time, I made a proof of concept, happy for others to offer solutions, and maybe other ways to do this, which would be great.
Eldar has given a walkthrough most of it
mine was a little different, but as he righty says, lots of ways to do things.
I haven’t used Tab Anything Pro, so I can’t say what features it offers. This tutorial isn’t to replicate TAB or prove Tabbed Content Bric is better.
Instead, I wanted to show an alternative way to achieve similar functionality using Blocs’ built-in features since Tab Anything Pro’s developer abandoned it. This solution works for most websites, though I agree it’s better to show more than three or four tabs as a dropdown.
As I said, there are many methods to do this, some more elegant than others, with or without Blocs 6, and I’ll be happy to share specific ways to do it in Blocs 6 with Custom Interactions when I have time.
@PeteSharp We have all provided a ton of free solutions. I am sure users are thankful for your input over the years. That being said, sharing your result (of proof of concept) without explaining how to do it, and suggesting we wait for someone else, does give out a very negative impression, which I hoped we’ve moved past in this forum.
The context of my example was Rich’s website, which has a lot of tabs. As on his website you can see how it handled smaller breakpoints with the dropdown - I was more focused on doing that.
I already commented that your tutorial was good and you were right as you pointed out in your video that there are lots of ways to do.
I never said I was the exclusive provider of free stuff, so I think you could be reading more into what I said than what was there. Any impressions are your own, the joys of reading text. I left an invitation for people to give it a go. Your tutorial is a good starting point for them. ![]()
There are many people here who have used blocs for a long time now. It would be cool to see some take on the challenge and have a go. I don’t have 6, so genuinely interested in what people will come up with. But if no one wants to, thats ok as well.
Maybe @Blocs_User can show us some alternatives. That would be cool, would love to see what he comes up with.
A community effort, or even a competition would be great
. Show case for different content requirements.
A while back I had a convo with @Norm about doing something like this in the community, I think he liked the idea. Maybe you can facilitate it @Eldar and provide like a challenge brief (thinking more than tabs) you would be ideal.
Since you chose to directly mention me, I will just respond that the time it took you to write all that verse just attaching the POC / Mockup .blocs file — speaks for itself. ![]()
I dont have the file. It was quicker than rebuilding it.
But you are also experienced, so I am sure you have suggestions.
But, since you press me, I used Bootstrap attributes though, just as the Tab bric uses.
data-bs-toggle=“tab”
data-bs-target=“#your-tab-id”
The links in the dropdown set to none, and apply the attributes. ![]()
I’m not pressing, directing, or otherwise towards you Pete, so freely go ahead and do you. ![]()
I hope you are okay now ![]()
