Text or image overlay on a video?

Hi All,

I tried making an overlay with text with a video in the background but I couldn’t get the video to play unless I clicked outside of the text area. Any help would be great.

I would create the overlays (text or images) as part of the video. You don’t need a video editing app to do this - use keynote. Add your video to the keynote project and then add text or image overlays as needed. You can even animate the overlays to give some added interest. Once created, export the keynote as a 1080 video and optimise in handbrake. Add your video as normal to your blocs page. The link below will show you an example of such a video.

Is there a way to achieve this on a mouse over action?

Can you give more details about what you want to achieve? Because your talking mouse roll over now??

Sure thing @PeteSharp, see screenshots attached.

I’d like to be able to either have text or image overlay when hovering over a video then being able to click on it to view the video.

I tried using an overlay bric element that I found here in the forums and it’s been very helpful and has more flexibility then the standard image overlay bric that I purchased in the Blocs store. I use it on my current site for my gallery: www.bluedzign.com

So you would need Javascript as well to play the video on click, otherwise the user is clicking twice which would be a bad experience.

oh ok so not possible I guess. Thanks @PeteSharp

No it’s possible. Just depends what you want the user experience to be like, to then decide how you build it.

I can’t answer your question unfortunately, but I’d love to know which bric you are using for the overlay. I’m hoping to integrate something like this into my portfolio website.
