So I just spent 30 minutes adding social cards to all my pages - including images. The images are in WebP format. Then I went back to double check everything and the images were gone. So I added them again. checked again. Gone. Repeat etc.
Then out of frustration I added a PNG image, and it worked just fine. Hmmm …
So I asked ChatGPT “what image formats are supported for og:image”. It seems that WEbP is allowed and supported:
Recommended Image Formats for og:image
- JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg) – Best for photos and general images (widely supported and compressed efficiently).
- PNG (.png) – Best for images with transparency (but larger file size).
- WebP (.webp) – More efficient than JPEG and PNG but may not be supported by all platforms.
- GIF (.gif) – Supports animation but may not work correctly on all platforms.
- SVG (.svg) – Vector images, but not all social media platforms support them properly.
Platform-Specific Considerations
Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter (X): JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF are supported.
So at a glance, it would seem that the problem is within Blocs (?)
