Hi @claudiope,
Please clarify, are you having issues exporting the theme to you local MAMP installation or asking how to upload your MAMP Wordpress site to your web server?
Hey @Ricardo,
Along similar lines. You use LocalWP right? What’s the best way to migrate to a server. MAMP has those options built in I think.
Hi @PeteSharp,
I use different methods depending on the server setup, however, if you install WPVivid Backup Plugin in both your local wp site and web server wp site, you can easily migrate your site.
As follows, backup your local site to your Mac. Then upload the file in the WPVivid on your web server, and restore to it. Everything on your wordpress on your web server wp site will be restore as in your local site. Even the wordpress version. (not the php or mysql version, as that’s controlled by the server).
The free version WPVivid Backup Plugin is plenty for this. I use all the time. But you can use other migration plugins available on Wordpress.org.
BTW, I use to use MAMP, but since finding local a couple of year ago, I’ll stick with it. It is much much easier to do WP locally. On top of it, you can easily clone a site that you are working on locally and test different Wordpress versions, php versions and SQL.
Cheers,
Thanks @Ricardo, I will check it out.
Like you I do have MAMP, but its out of date now, and I liked how simple Local was.
Actually I don’t have MAMP installed on my computer anymore. Local rules now, lol
I just fired it up, I have MAMP Pro 6.6.4 installed, haven’t used it in so long, it was still the intel version, and I am on an M2 Pro. I even have their NAMO app, I might as well remove them. Local is just too easy.
Local makes WP development easy and fun ![]()
