Hi Blocs Brics Fans,
SmallPotato CMS 2.1 is out
Version 2.1 brings WebP images, filter dropdowns, Google Sheet sync and a new Bric. All nine Brics are now 2.1.0.
New
- SmallPotato-Notice: a new Bric for an announcement bar (a sale, opening hours, a holiday). Your client edits it in the admin and can schedule it. Visitors can close it, and it can sit inline, stick to the top or stay fixed at the bottom.
- WebP images: each upload is also saved as WebP in four widths, and every screen loads the size it needs. Under Media, one click adds WebP versions to older images.
- Filter dropdowns for Collection lists and Tables. They work together with search and the filter buttons, and the Excel download follows them.
- Collections from a Google Sheet: the site reads the sheet every 5 minutes and adds, updates or removes items to match.
- Photos from Google Drive links in imports and sheets.
Fixed
- Some hosts’ malware scanners flagged
smallpotato-api.php. It was a false alarm. Requests to other websites now live in a separate file, so the scanners no longer flag anything. sp-post-gallerynow works on an image too: the gallery takes the image’s place.- Images now load at the right size: no more shrunken post images or squeezed carousel slides.
Updating from 2.0
- Download SmallPotato CMS again from your Lemon Squeezy account. You need the new download to get the new SmallPotato-Notice Bric. Then install all nine 2.1.0 Brics.
- Right-click the Admin Bric, choose Reset Custom Bric → Resources, then click the Admin once (this adds the new http file).
- Run Reset Custom Bric → Template Values on one of each Bric type you use, then click it once.
- Export, upload, then click Make WebP versions under Media.
Your content, logins and settings stay as they are. The full details are in the User Manual.
