Hello, I would like to ask for recommendations or reach out directly to developers regarding a search feature for visitors on a website built in Blocs. The search should cover published text, H1, H2, H3 headings, and SEO metadata. It’s for a city website with 30,000 residents, featuring a standard search bar in the top navigation menu. It’s definitely not a small website.
That could be highly more beneficial and certainly more modern at that price point.
Q. Does site search scan all of the content on each page to find results?
A. No. Site search is intended as a lightweight, fast and efficient search solution. The results for pages are filtered by the page name and keywords that are entered into a pages keyword SEO settings.
If that bric getting updated is not an option, then alternatively does Seznam CZ offer anything, because if so users would probably be used to seeing that. Or you could pay to use things like SiteSearch360, Algolia, etc., or maybe there is also a similar CZ company like those.
Honestly it’s been a bit of changing scene (Google, Microsoft, etc., removing previous API’s), most things are going more towards AI now, like Google Vertex, etc.,
Sadly the site search for blocs so not good for larger sites. It’s basic and rudimentary, it requires YOU to enter what YOU think the search terms may be into the system, for anyone and everyone.
sadly because of this I am having to move my site to another platform as we need people to use the search now
Unfortunately thats the antiquated reality of this bric, even for its price. Hopefully it can be updated and improved further or refactored entirely. Especially since much has changed in the 7.5 years since it was released.
Currently, there are 52 separate subpages within a single Blocs document, and these pages don’t have little content (see Centrum Jízdárna ) — text search on a website built with Blocs. Migrating to WP might be the only option.
As mentioned already above things are changing. That API is only “viable” for a few more months and will be discontinued on January 1, 2027 and non migrations to something else will fail after that.
As for the search bric being an option, thats true it is an option. However “best” is mostly relative to being the only option available. It needs refactoring and updated and should not need to be manual entry at that price point.
Currently, even for your 52+ pages thats still a lot of manual entry hoping you use terms people will actually be searching for, as @Recce43accurately pointed out above.
Maybe you have already seen it but a NEW more advanced, automated and modern site search bric solution is now available for half the price of the previous manual entry bric option mentioned in this thread.
SiteSeek Search $25
Hopefully this new bric better fits your requirements.
