Oh yes! If you want to use Card Designer without the images just the text, that perfectly fine. In fact it’s expected. I’ve even added features to make it easier. There’s an option to “hide images”. It removes the placeholder image completely.
Using Card Designer just for the text features is actually very much a “thing”.
It even works with the hover feature, basically turning any column into a hoverable card!

Can the button be set to directly open a lightbox?
The closest I’ve got isn’t too satisfactory yet as I have to open a modal then open a lightbox from there.
I don’t believe “lightbox” is a Bootstrap feature. However whatever script you are using can likely be incorporated in some way.
What are you using for lightboxes in Blocs?
I’m looking for the button to open a set of images that are set non-visible. At the moment I can put the images in a modal, but when the modal opens all the photos are visible immediately.
My other option is to set them behind an initial image (set to open a lightbox) but I would prefer this to be behind a card button.
Not a big issue if it can’t be done.
Is this custom lightbox code you are using?

This is more than true it screwed up all my cards and it appears to be more than some small tweaks…
This is what it used to look like:

How do I get the text to appear up on hover ?

I have indeed but it does not seem to have any effect it looks like the margins between the different captions prevent the description and button from being hidden. Will need to further understand the new features to get the wanted results back.
Would there be anyway to download previous versions ?
So in the meantime I can get back the original effects ?

To troubleshoot please create a new card and see if you can achieve what you are after.
If you can make new cards that says a lot. I’m afraid you will need to recreate your cards.
You can use presets or even the free custom bloc I release earlier this week could be a big help. Also, note that updates moving forward will have less friction for you.
What version of Card Designer were you using before the update?

That’s not possible in this version of CD.
I realised is not mobile friendly and to toggle with visibility option would be awesome
